Delta Airlines forced us to stop supporting their program

Postby SiteAdmin » Mon Sep 10, 2012 11:15 am

Unfortunately, Delta Airlines has contacted us and stated that we may not access their website on your behalf anymore. As a result, we are forced to discontinue the support of the Delta programs on AwardWallet.

We are attaching the Cease and Desist letter for your reference.

Thank you,
The AwardWallet Team

Well that is a rather disappointing development. Will you be doing a browser extension for this one too ?
Thank You, NR

I think they are bluffing. :)

Seriously, sorry to hear about losing Delta. This sucks.

Sounds like restraint of trade to me.

This is unfortunate news! Will AwardWallet help us preserve our access to DL?

How about you guys develop an app (which I would gladly pay for) that resides on our pc's/macs/tablets and stop the airlines from complaining about your having access to our data?

Delta, you S&*#! Why are you trying to make your customers lives more difficult. Great customer service strategy!

I'll be sure to remember NOT to use Delta next time I have options.

Come on Delta. AwardWallet is doing you a favor. What possible business reason could you have for this decision? The harder you make it for me to use your miles the less likely I'll use your flights. I thought you were better than alaska... maybe not?

I'm sorry to hear that Delta is throwing up walls to better service for their customers. Sadly, in my experience, I find that Delta consistently finds more ways to say, "No," than any other airline in the US skies.

I hope you are able to provide at least a direct link to the log in at Delta for your users to access account info. Even if the Delta account info is not as well organized or transparent, it is the best we will have moving forward.

They just want to force us to go directly to the Delta website. We signed up for Award Wallet because we don't want to always have to do this. Please post an online petition that we can all sign and submit like social and political action groups do.

This is very disappointing, and it makes more work and time lost. Maybe Delta will no longer be a favored carrier.

I am Platinum with Delta. I use this site to track my family's miles and it is valuable and saves a lot of time rather than having to log in. It also sends me reminders of flights. I have already rejected flying American in part due to their disconinuing of Award Wallet. I fail to understand the legal reasons for this or how they can control AW's access on my behalf. I doubt that there is a deep pocket to raid?

Help me understand how this helps Delta and others by stopping access.

I hope that you will consider getting the Wall Street Journal or New York Times travel folks to write about this situation.

i think before Delta does something like this, they should reach out to the FF community to see how their elites feel about this change. it's a huge inconvenience to me.

Very disappointed in Delta ... we should be able to decide if we want our accounts accessed or not. Not them ...

My email to Delta SkyMiles customer service:

I am very upset that you are no longer allowing AwardWallet.com to access my Delta SkyMiles balance and other information on my behalf. Quite honestly, it is just awful customer service and I hope you will consider changing your position. It is an account balance that I have earned and the information is on my account. It should be my choice to view it any way I like. I will be sending similar emails regarding your anti-consumer decision to American Express, Hertz and every other one of your partners that I utilize. I cannot express how frustrated I am with your decision.

This is a significant issue for folks who travel and want to aggregate their data. Not only Delta, but Southwest, American and perhaps others.

Perhaps there are some attorneys who would like to take on this issue? I can't understand why I can't authorize someone to access my account information, or alternately why Delta does not have the issue with us fliers rather than AW?

I don't get it. First American. Now Delta. What gives? Very disappointing because
Award Wallet has been very effective for me. Other flyers echo my sentiments.
I don't see how they can prevent something that I have authorized on my account.

Very unfortunate. I too am a platinum member and use the service and enjoy it. I think this is definitely the wrong move by Delta. I will express a similar sentiment to Delta customer service.
