Credits expire after one year, and they expire individually, so earning new credits does not reset the clock on old ones. You can pay $29 per point to refresh them, or $39 each to buy more, but both these options are likely to end up costing more than just buying a ticket. Unless you fly AirTran several times in the same year, you're unlikely to earn any free travel.

Rewards program takes forever to even earn a one-way flight. This could be beacause flying is so inexpensive with AirTran and the service is excellent!

Helpfulness is an anathema to AirTran employees. They are often unpleasant, and occasionally downright offensive. I loathe this airline and am willing to pay more to avoid using them. Their frequent flyer program is one of the worst.
