AAdvantage has announced a promotion where you can earn up to 50,000 bonus miles. The promotion is gamified similar to the IHG Accelerate promos, where there is a list of tasks for you to complete and the bonus increases the more tasks you complete.
Key Terms
- Qualifying activities must be completed by 23:59 CT December 31, 2017
- You need to register for the promotion using the code AAHOL
- You will earn bonus miles for every qualifying activity with a participating partner
- Earning is tiered according to how many partners with whom you complete qualifying activities
- Bonus points are in addition to the points you'd otherwise earn for these activities
Activities and Participating Partners
To earn the full 50,000 bonus points, you will need to complete qualifying activities with the following 10 partners:
- Sign up for Miles for Opinions
- Sign up for a Lifelock subscription
- Activate a new Sprint Account
- Book a hotel with Rocketmiles
- Shop online with AAdvantage eShopping
- Purchase flowers from 1-800-FLOWERS
- Dine out using AAdvantage Dining
- Rent a car with Avis or Budget
- Order wine from Vinesse
- Book a stay at a Hilton hotel
Earning Rates
Depending on how many partners you complete the qualifying activity with, you will earn bonus miles according to the following table:
Our Take
This promotion will require some effort to complete fully since the list is extensive and whether or not you have time/effort to complete all the tasks. That said, the promotion is highly skewed towards completing all 10 activities as the earning rates increase in an exponential manner as you work your way through completion. How many activities will you aim for?

Hi, Howie! I registered in the AA promo, spent about $80 at 1-800-Flowers and got about 80 base miles. There were no bonus miles. At the AA Customer Care Service I was told that “it was necessary to earn at least 2,000 miles from your purchase with 1-800-Flowers in order to earn the bonus miles from the promotion”. And there is the question following. How much money should I have paid for the flowers in order to qualify the AA promo? $2000? ?
Sounds like an agent that doesn’t understand the promo. I’d try calling again.
I have got ordinary miles from two partners. There have been no promo extra miles. Does anybody know when they will be credited?
According to the promotion page, bonus miles should post within 14 days of the base miles posting:
Anyone calculate a possible minimum cost for doing all 10 qualifying activities?
Thanks for the info, will definitely try to earn some bonuses!
Thanks for the great info!
Being non-US based, Hilton, Avis and Rocketmiles are probably the only ones I qualify for, unfortunately
I can only get one of these done, but at least it’s something
I went back and took a close look at the requirements for earning the bonus miles — to earn the bonus for dining you have to earn 500 dining Miles? That’s a lot of eating out. Or maybe I’m misinterpreting the requirements?
Too complicated for me. Will pass.
Looks like I can get five partners in, but not more.
Just registered, thanks. Now I need to find out which partners work for me
Have completed three so far but I went for the low hanging fruit from the list.
I will probably do at least 2 of the things in the list, so it’s worth registering I guess.
two completions so far
Seems like a good idea to incentivize people who may not use these partners but would be motivated for the offer. I would hardly call it gamification though. It’s just a list of tasks.
Significant minimum spends to hit these bonuses. Nothing at all like the old AA 20-20 promo or the US partner promos. 🙁
I need about 5k miles, so this could actually work out very well.
Not a bad offer but the worst part is tracking all of this stuff and dealing with distant customer service when you have any issues when things don’t post. Who wants to write 6X emails just to fulfil the offer when it should all be automated when it is set up properly. Maybe I am jaded but I have lots of challenges trying to get basic shopping portal offers to post one time, let alone 10 times. . .
Just registered for the game. Now I need to work out the cheapest way to use every partner.
Their redemptions have been brutal lately. At least for my travel purposes.
this looks tough to complete all for the big bonus
Registered. Thanks for the tip
Thanks for heads-up. Just registered.
Thanks. Quite the list, but I registered just in case.
I’ve just registered into this promo even though I don’t think I will participate.
Nice deal. I’ll check it out.
Easy to sign up and even though I won’t go out of my way to complete any of the tasks, it would be great if I snagged 500 or 1000 extra miles without really doing anything out of the norm.
My thoughts entirely. I won’t be going out of my way for this, but I might pick up something.
I’m actually seeing a lot more award flights with AA . Even direct flights!
Interesting. Several of these are pretty easy.
bonus miles are nice, but there’s very limited availability on AA metal…
Does the Rocketmiles one have to be any particular hotel? I assume it wouldn’t work to book a Hilton hotel through Rocketmiles, right?
Any hotel booked through rocketmiles.com/aa-bonus. Full terms are listed on the promotion page.
I registered and have an American flight on November 30. Interesting that ‘this doesn’t count for anything. I may try to get one in though.
Big bonus if you can time this right.
This is tricky, because each task has requirements within it (ex. earn 2,000 miles shopping at aadvantage eshopping) and the promo doesn’t show if you’ve completed the tasks. I wish it had a checklist where I could see if what I’ve done satisfies the requirements for each task.
I’m taking it this is mainly aimed at US residents?
There appears to be no geographic restriction.
I’ve managed to register. Worth a try.
I’m guessing it might be US only as I registered but can’t see those offers.
This is an interesting promo. I admit that I won’t be able to fulfill many of the activities but since there are a few I will do anyway, I will certainly sign up. I haven’t heard of this. Is it targeted? If not, why haven’t I received an email? It’s another reason that this is one of my favorite blogs!
This promotion is not targeted.
Come on, Howie! The promo is targeted. Being a non US resident, I will no way complete all 10: e.g. Miles for Opinions or Vinesse ? I will keep my fingers crossed for you: do all in power to qualify all of them! ✌️
You could say that most promotions are targeted if they limit access to residents of certain countries, and while logically you’ll not complete them all, I don’t see how this is targeted.
I was wondering the same thing! Glad to have this blog to help me find some extra miles here and there- thanks!
focusing on other airline right now, so deals won’t work for me
For the Hilton stay does my earning preference have to be points and miles or can I keep my points and points setting?
You’ve gotta choice points + miles.
The link to the promotion explains each of the terms and conditions for each of the promotions clearly; please review them to clear up any questions.
Seems like a lot of work to do.. but it could work out nicely if you do all 10.
I could probably get five of the activities done with some focus and minor effort. This is such a busy time of the year, though, that I could see myself losing sight of it.
I have one under my belt and am hoping for three more.
You need to be registered prior to earning credit!
just registered for this. im hoping to get 3 of them. that’s not horrible. 🙂
Such a shame that they devalued their FFP!
Shopping, dining & a survey look like the only likely ones for me…
Thanks for this info. I just registered. There’s at least a couple items I will be able to fulfill.
nice deal. might have to spend a little to get some miles!
Won’t go out of my way, but hey, if it happens to be something I end up doing. Great.
I registered for this promotion, I will probably not go out of my way to complete any of the tasks.
