Alaska Airlines has announced their latest promotion, where you can earn double miles on select routes through February 28, 2018. If you'll be flying to/through San Francisco/SFO, Los Angeles/LAX, Santa Ana/SNA, San Jose/SJO, San Diego/SAN, or Portland/PDX, this is an easy way to pick up some extra miles.
Key Terms & Caveats
- Register your Mileage Plan™ number before your first trip and no later than January 31, 2018.
- Travel on qualifying nonstop flights from September 1, 2017, through February 28, 2018, and you'll earn double Mileage Plan miles.
- You must enter your Mileage Plan account number on your reservation to earn credit
- Allow up to 4-6 weeks for the points to post to your account
- Bonus miles do not count towards Mileage Plan elite status

Our Take
With a travel window that spans six months, this is fantastic for those loyal to Alaska Airlines; especially if you live in/near any of the cities in the promotion. Taking a couple of trans con flights (Portland-New York or Portland and Baltimore) during the promotion will let you rack up some serious points.

My home airport is PDX so this seems like a great opportunity to earn some extra Alaska miles.

How sad…
I can’t say I blame them. Try to drum up business in focus cities instead of the biggest hub where they’d just be giving miles away.
Wouldn’t get me to go out of my way, but it’s a nice bonus if I was already considering that route.
