Our Take
Shangri La is a high-end hotel group; even its lowest category one hotels tend to be five-star establishments and quite expensive. Per the Shangri-La award chart, the category 1 hotels will set you back 1,000 points per night for a standard room. At first glance, the promotion may not seem very lucrative, but if you can complete several of the tasks, you can easily pick up enough points for one or two free nights at 5-star properties.

This program is a great value for redeeming for dining at their restaurants, and you don’t even have to be on a stay. I’ve had several free meals at the Jean Georges at the Shangri-LA in Vancouver.
Thank you for the Economist subscription tip.
The Sydney property is also fantastic.
And, they partner with the Economist magazine. If one signs up for a 3 year subscription you receive 3,500 points. Note there are apparently no hotels in the U.S.
Shangri-La is top notch. I’ll take them up on a double points bonus promo any time
I’ve had some great experiences at their two HK hotels, one on the Kowloon side, and the other on the Hong Kong Island side. Beautifully appointed properties, and always superior service. Hotel Jen in Male, Maldives, was also a lovely property. I always welcome the opportunity to earn some bonus Shangri-La points.
Stayed and didn’t check to see if they had a program as had never heard of the brand. Missed out on points. 🙁
Thanks for the info. Registering for the program, and the bonus, in case get back again.
