Hyatt and AA are offering a new bonus earning promotion. Through September 5, 2022, World of Hyatt members can earn 1,000 American Airlines AAdvantage miles for every stay at eligible Hyatt hotels.
This promotion ran a few months ago, but at that time it was targeted. Now it's available for all Hyatt members, but first you need to register.
Earn 1,000 Bonus AAdvantage Miles Per Stay Key Terms
- Registered members can earn 1,000 bonus AAdvantage miles for every qualifying stay of 2 or more nights completed in select cities:
- Austin
- Boston
- Chicago
- Honolulu
- Los Angeles
- New York
- San Diego
- San Francisco
- Seattle
- Washington, D.C.
- Stays at Small Luxury Hotels do not qualify.
- There is no maximum limit to how many bonus AAdvantage miles you can earn.
- To earn the bonus miles, members must register by August 31, 2022.
- Eligible stays are between July 5, 2022 and September 5, 2022.
- This promotion applies to both paid stays and award stays — provided you book directly with Hyatt.

- If you book more than one room during a stay, only the room you occupy will qualify for the credit.
Quick Thoughts
In mid-2019, Hyatt and American Airlines launched an exciting partnership that's lauded by elite members of both programs and then announced reciprocal shortcuts to elite statuses. There are certainly benefits to having your American Airlines and Hyatt accounts linked, such as earning 1 Hyatt point on every dollar you spend on American Airlines purchases.
While 1,000 AAdvantage miles probably doesn't seem like much, it can add up in a hurry if you have a few Hyatt stays coming up. AAdvantage Web Special awards currently cost as little as 6,000 miles per way per person. That means you could potentially receive enough miles for an AA award flight from the bonus miles earned from six stays at a Hyatt.
In terms of monetary value, the value of this promotion depends on your valuation of AAdvantage miles. For example, I personally value AAdvantage miles around 1.5¢ apiece. So, 1,000 bonus miles is roughly equivalent to a $15 rebate per qualifying Hyatt stay. If you have 10 stays during the promotion period, you could earn up to $150 in value from this Hyatt promotion for AA miles.
Remember that you typically can stack hotel promotions. For instance, Hyatt has a promotion for 500 bonus points when staying at select new hotels. Keep your eye on our master list of hotel promotions to see other opportunities for stacking deals during the promotion period.

Bottom Line
Hyatt and American Airlines released a new partner promotion to earn bonus AA miles on each stay. Register by August 31, and eligible stays are from July 5, 2022 through September 5, 2022. Members can earn 1,000 bonus AAdvantage miles for each stay during that period, subject to the terms above.

Argh! Not where I am staying, of course. Oh well. I hope they have a promo for this fall and winter, too. I am just beginning to be serious about Hyatt. I have finally tallied up where I and my family stay the most and it’s Hyatts. It’s a plus that they partner with American, since that’s where I like to earn my miles.
Too bad that this promotion is limited to US hotels. I was hoping it’d be extended globally.
It seems like that it is a VERY targeted offer. It is too bad that not too many members can benefit from the bonus.
Nope, but that’s fine; I’m a Hilton United guy but like to have Hyatt as an option with UR transfers.
If I am staying at a Hyatt for an award stay, can I just pay for a meal at the hotel with a credit card instead of charging it to my room and get the 1,000 points?
The terms seem like it’s ok. Any thoughts or experience from the previous promotion?
As far as I know an award stay qualifies, so the dining purchase shouldn’t be necessary.
I got targeted, just need to figure out whether I will make use of it. I wish more hotels and airlines would do partnering like this.
Targeted and registered. Thanks!
Was 900 miles short for an award ticket so this is perfect.
lamentablemente en Argentina parece que la asociaciòn de AA con Hyatt no tiene validez, he consultado en Hyatt Mendoza y no hay suma de millas, alguien sabe si en el resto de Hyatt de Argentina suman millas ? gracias
For this particular promotion, all Hyatt hotels should be eligible: “Offer valid for qualifying nights between April 15, 2021 to July 31, 2021 (“Offer Period”) at participating Hyatt hotels and resorts worldwide and participating M life Rewards destinations, Small Luxury Hotels of the World properties, and Lindblad Expeditions.” https://world.hyatt.com/content/gp/en/offers/aa-targeted-offer.html
For the overall partnership, I don’t see any geographic limitation. But you do need to register here: https://world.hyatt.com/content/gp/en/rewards/american-airlines.html
saludos
I was only targeted once. Hopefully a little more lucky next time.
I wasn’t targeted.
I’m not yet at Hyatt member so I am going to register for the program right now. I have a couple of road trips coming up this summer I was trying to decide between hired Marriott. I guess I know which hotel chain I’m going to stay with! Thank you.
I haven’t been targeting, but I am going to register and see if I can take advantage. I have a hyatt stay coming up in a couple weeks!
Hyatt & AA promos have been interesting, unfortunately haven’t been targeted for any of them.
With Hyatt and United both being Chase partners, it sure would be nice if Hyatt and United would team up but oh well.
I was targeted and I haven’t flown AA or stayed at Hyatt for years.
My accounts weren’t linked and I was hoping that linking them would result in becoming eligible, but alas that didn’t work and it’s been quite a few days.
Finally, a promotion that I can actually use. Will allow me to use my expiring AA miles as well as use Hyatt, which has a good lineup of hotels.
How quickly do AA miles post after a Hyatt reservation?
The offer terms state: “Your account will be credited 3-4 weeks after travel with AAdvantage® miles.”
I have earned 3 of these now & all posted to my AA acct sev days after checkout
Not traveling now, hope for better promotion when traveling is safer.
1000 AA points per night are very generous. Just checked, too bad I’m not targeted. I only received a reminder to register to “Earn Bonus Points Every Two Nights”.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t targeted (Discoverist status). I have an upcoming stay that would have qualified. Thanks for the update. I will continue to look out for others in the future.
Thanks for the update. I’m also not among the lucky ones.
Always appreciate these updates because sometimes I just forget what offers are out there or if I registered. Thanks
Wow, AA and Hyatt is working towards the kind of partnership, similar to the one between UA and Marriott.
I have Globalist status but not AA elite starus & was targeted.
Any chance Marriott will do something similar? I have a business trip coming up but it’s at a Marriott brand.
not every one is welcome in this trap
Thank you for quantifying the value of the miles/points – that is very helpful in comparing the monetary value of different rewards.
