Maximizing the Offer

If you want to top up your points balance, this can be a great opportunity. Since if you make a booking and then cancel it, you will be refunded the entire balance in points. With the additional points being the difference between a full points night, and what you paid in points.  Doing a few quick searches on the IHG site, you can pick up 20,000 IHG points for $90 or less, which gives you a price per point of less than half a cent a piece (0.43 cents) which is an excellent value.

Overall

This promotion can provide some excellent value. If you have some stays planned with IHG properties before the end of the year, you can get a significant discount. Alternatively, if you are looking forward to the IHG PointBreaks promo which is coming out at the end of October 2017, then you can maximize your value. During the promotion, select properties and nights price out at 5,000 points per night, and at less than half a cent per point, you can pick up a night for as little as $22.
