Uber has been very busy recently launching many partnerships and offers. We recently reported that Uber was offering free rides from certain airports in collaboration with American Express. Continuing with their tie-in with the Aviation industry, Uber and United announced that Uber is now available in the United MileagePlus X mobile app.

The deal works by allowing users to purchase Uber gift cards in the app. You can then choose to either offer the gift cards to friends or family or top-up your own individual Uber Accounts. Cards can be purchased from $15 up to $200. For every dollar spent on the MileagePlus X app, you earn one United MileagePlus Mile. While this is not the greatest of rates per dollar spent, by registering The Platinum Card® from American Express or your Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, you'll earn additional rewards for every dollar spent as these purchases register as a United purchase.

The United MileagePlus X app is ever expanding with the addition of Uber to the shopping portal. Currently, there are hundreds of retailers who participate in the program. You can shop and earn miles on everything from your morning coffee from Starbucks, car maintenance, pet care and grooming, movie theaters, and by purchasing food and beverages in many bars and restaurants.
