The <strong>Starbucks Visa Card\u00a0<\/strong>closed to new applicants in the summer of 2022, and it seems Chase is fully ending its relationship with the coffee house. Although a forced card product change is never the most appealing of options, the <a data-ccid=\"3006090\" href=\"\/blog\/link\/ChaseFreedomUnlimited\" rel=\"noopener nofollow sponsored\">Chase Freedom Unlimited<sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/a> has some excellent <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/credit-cards\/chase-ultimate-rewards\/freedom-unlimited\/\" rel=\"noopener\">features and benefits<\/a> for a no-annual-fee card.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"When_Will_the_Starbucks_Visa_Card_Transition_Occur\">When Will the <strong>Starbucks Visa Card<\/strong> Transition Occur?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>According to Chase, the transition from <strong>Starbucks Visa Card<\/strong> to <a data-ccid=\"3006090\" href=\"\/blog\/link\/ChaseFreedomUnlimited\" rel=\"noopener nofollow sponsored\">Freedom Unlimited<\/a> will happen to the following timeline:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Effective <strong>July 20, 2023,<\/strong> your account will be switched over to the <a data-ccid=\"3006090\" href=\"\/blog\/link\/ChaseFreedomUnlimited\" rel=\"noopener nofollow sponsored\">Freedom Unlimited<\/a> account. Your credit line, account number, travel and purchase protection benefits, and interest rates will not change.<\/li>\n<li>Over the following six to eight weeks, you will be issued with a new <a data-ccid=\"3006090\" href=\"\/blog\/link\/ChaseFreedomUnlimited\" rel=\"noopener nofollow sponsored\">Chase Freedom Unlimited<sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/a>. Instead, they will earn Cash Back Rewards.<\/li>\n<li>Starbucks Stars will still be earned on purchases that post prior to July 20, 2023.<\/li>\n<li>If you signed up for DoorDash DashPass Membership before July 19, 2023, you would receive a 1-year complimentary membership for both DoorDash and Caviar.<\/li>\n<li>If you sign up after July 19, 2023, you will receive three months of complimentary DoorDash Pass plus nine months of DashPass at a 50% discount.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Expiration of Stars:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Before this change, Stars earned through <strong>Starbucks Visa Card <\/strong>wouldn't expire.<\/li>\n<li>Now, Stars earned through July 19, 2023 will be valid through August 2024.<\/li>\n<li>Starbucks Stars earned from July 20, 2023 through January 2024 will also expire in August 2024.<\/li>\n<li>After January 2024, your earned stars will expire after six months &#8212; <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/shopping\/do-starbucks-rewards-stars-expire\/\" rel=\"noopener\">in line with Starbucks' expiration policy<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span id=\"Our_Take\">Our Take<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you are a big Starbucks fan, this news will be disappointing. This is especially true because this news followed the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/news\/starbucks-rewards-changes-february-2023\/\" rel=\"noopener\">major devaluation of its loyalty program in February 2023<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, if you are looking to maximize your rewards from spending your hard-earned cash, you can't do much better than the Chase Freedom Unlimited<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>. The card offers excellent earning rates for a no-annual-fee card.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, when you combine it with other Chase Ultimate Rewards earning cards, it can be a points-earning powerhouse.
