However, it can take up to two billing cycles.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Cautions_of_Using_the_Sapphire_Preferred_Annual_Hotel_Credit\">Cautions of Using the Sapphire Preferred Annual Hotel Credit<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>We love the Chase Sapphire Preferred hotel credit. However, there are some pitfalls to keep in mind.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"No_points_earning_or_elite_perks_at_chain_hotels\">No points earning or elite perks at chain hotels<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The biggest potential downside is that you may not earn loyalty program points or <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/hotels\/marriott-bonvoy\/what-are-marriott-elite-night-credits\/\" rel=\"noopener\">elite night credits<\/a> on the stay. That's because you are booking through a third party, and most hotel programs require direct bookings to earn points in the loyalty program.<\/p>\n<p>This also means you may not receive any elite status benefits, like room upgrades or free breakfast. It's still worth trying to add your loyalty number after making the reservation, but understand that the hotel may not honor your status level or give you stay credits on these bookings.<\/p>\n<p>Savvy travelers will want to be strategic about when they use this credit. Do you have an overnight layover between flights? If you're just looking for a place to crash for the night, elite perks like upgrades and late checkout may not make a difference. So, book through Chase Travel\u2120 to utilize this credit. Essentially, the $100 credit is useless if you're paying more out of pocket by booking through the portal rather than directly with the hotel.
