Parents can request the extension until their child's first birthday.

Even better, there’s no limit to how many times you can take advantage of this benefit — members can request it once for each child.

To get started, contact Aegean through its email contact form and provide a birth certificate along with supporting details.

Aer Lingus

You can pause your Aer Lingus AerClub membership because of a new baby or adoption. In addition, you can pause your membership if you have a serious illness.

To qualify for a membership pause due to a new family addition, you'll need to hold Silver, Platinum, or Concierge status — complimentary status holders aren't eligible. To apply, submit documentation of the birth or adoption through the carrier's contact form. Aer Lingus will approve up to two applications over five years. If a couple applies jointly, they must decide who takes adoption leave.

Additionally, Ireland’s flag carrier allows members to apply for a status extension due to serious illness. You'll need to hold one of the aforementioned status tiers and submit detailed documentation through the contact form. Specifically, Aer Lingus will need to see a doctor's note stating that you can't fly for at least 16 weeks. And, like with parental leave, you can pause your AerClub membership twice every five years.

Credit: Aer Lingus</enter>

Air Canada

Aeroplan elites expecting a child through birth, adoption, or foster care can request a status extension while taking a leave of absence from work. For example, members who extend Atmos Titanium status through Elite Leave won’t receive that year’s Choice Benefits.

This benefit is only available to members who earned Atmos status organically, not through a status match or gifted status.

Avianca

New mothers with Avianca LifeMiles elite status can receive a 12-month status extension.
