In this case, airline transfer partners like <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/airlines\/avianca-lifemiles\/avianca-lifemiles-sweet-spots\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Avianca LifeMiles<\/a> are key to saving money.<\/p>\n<p>As an example, Avianca LifeMiles will charge you 69,000 miles and $7.80 for a one-way business class flight with Lufthansa to Europe. As part of this transition, Qatar altered its award chart for many different destinations. This has resulted in top-tier redemptions on its own Qsuite business class, among other options.<\/p>\n<p>Travelers flying from the United States to Doha (DOH) will pay just 70,000 Avios one-way for a flight in business class, which matches the lowest price you'll find for this routing. Thanks to a late-2023 change, award flights between the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/news\/flying-blue\/award-pricing-changes-2023\/\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. and Europe start at 20,000 Flying Blue miles in economy or 50,000 miles in business class<\/a> &#8212; regardless of route. However, you may have to be flexible with your dates to get this low rate. Why? Because if you have either a <a data-ccid=\"520083\" href=\"\/blog\/link\/CR-CitiPremierCard\" rel=\"noopener nofollow sponsored\">Citi Strata Premier<\/a> or a <a data-ccid=\"10\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/credit-cards\/citi-thankyou-rewards\/citi-prestige\/\" =_blank>Citi Prestige<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Card<\/a>, you'll be able to transfer your Citi points over to Choice at a 1:2 ratio, which means one Citi point becomes two Choice points.<\/p>\n<p>Not only is this double the amount you'll get with other credit card rewards \u2014 such as <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/credit-cards\/capital-one-rewards\/capital-one-transfer-partners\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Capital One miles<\/a> and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/credit-cards\/amex-membership-rewards\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Amex Membership Rewards points<\/a> \u2014 but Choice bookings can be incredibly valuable. Other <a href=\"\/credit-cards\/citi-thankyou-rewards\/how-to-earn-citi-points\/#Cards_That_Earn_Citi_ThankYou_Points\">Citi cards that earn ThankYou Points<\/a> can transfer to Choice Privileges at a 1:1.5 ratio.<\/p>\n<p>This is thanks to the program's relatively low overall cost, plus the fact that you won't pay extra for booking a suite or including more than two guests on your reservation. Notably, Choice has access to all-inclusive resorts where this can provide incredible value.<\/p>\n<h4>Wyndham for vacation rentals<\/h4>\n<p>Wish you could transfer Citi points to book a vacation rental, <em>a la<\/em> Airbnb? You're in luck, because although the home-sharing giant doesn't allow you to redeem Citi points for vacation rental bookings, transfer partner Wyndham does.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/hotels\/wyndham-rewards\/vacasa-rentals\/\" rel=\"noopener\">partnership with Vacasa, Wyndham points can be redeemed<\/a> for entire home vacation rentals at a rate of 15,000 points per bedroom, per night. There is a cap on the price of the rental you can cover with points, however. The value of your redemption must be no more than $250 per bedroom per night, inclusive of taxes and fees. While not as good as it used to be, it is still a solid 1.67 cents per point.<\/p>\n<p>Even better, you can score <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/hotels\/wyndham-rewards\/wyndham-vacation-club-condo-bookings\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Wyndham Vacation Club condo redemptions from 7,500 Wyndham Rewards points<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"Cash_back_and_statement_credits\">Cash back and statement credits<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>If you don't want to fuss with transfer partners, you can choose to redeem your Citi points for statement credits or cash back. This gives you a redemption rate of 1 cent per point.<\/p>\n<p>We don't generally recommend this unless you have a huge stockpile of points and the ability to earn many more. Although it's simple, it means you lose out on a great deal of potential value for your points. All of the examples above will get you far more from your points than cashing them out.<\/p>\n<p>However, if your dates are fixed and there aren't any award redemptions available, redeeming your points in this way may be the only way to ensure your expenses are covered. Just know that it's not the best.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"Travel_bookings_through_the_Citi_Travel_Portal\">Travel bookings through the Citi Travel Portal<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Citi's ThankYou Points site also includes a travel portal, from which you can book hotels, flights, car rentals, attractions, and more.<\/p>\n<p>It's possible to redeem Citi ThankYou Points for 1 cent each through the travel portal, but that's not necessarily a good idea. There are a few reasons why:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Booking through the travel portal generally nets you less value than transferring to partners.<\/li>\n<li>Using a third-party site to book travel can often mean you lose out on elite status benefits and credits at hotels.<\/li>\n<li>If your plans change, it becomes much more difficult to negotiate with the travel portal rather than the hotel or airline directly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you're looking to book a cheap flight or stay using your Citi points, it could be better to book the flight outright.
