The bad news? Well, the headline speaks for itself. The good news? ANA's award chart devaluation won't happen until April 18, 2024, so there's still time to book trips at the current rates before the Tokyo-based airline hikes its award prices.

Here's a look at what's changing with ANA Mileage Club's award charts and how the devaluation might impact you.

ANA Mileage Club To Devalue Award Charts on April 18, 2024

Traditionally, ANA Mileage Club has been a hard frequent flyer program to love. But despite the rules and restrictions, one of its redeeming qualities was its too-good-to-be-true award pricing. Unfortunately, that'll soon change, as ANA has let prospective travelers know that awards will soon cost more, effective April 18, 2024.

Most price increases are localized to international business- and first-class awards operated by ANA and its roster of partner airlines. So, for some, there's a silver lining there. With rare exceptions, you won't pay more to fly coach or premium economy.

Related: How To Book ANA Mileage Club Award Flights

ANA The Room business class. However, that assumes you can find a bookable award in a premium cabin.

Related: Do ANA Mileage Club Miles Expire?

Partner-operated awards

ANA belongs to the Star Alliance, which means you can use Mileage Club miles to book tickets on one of several international airlines, plus a few non-alliance partners. But like with ANA flights, partner awards will have a higher price tag come April — primarily in business class.

Here are a few examples (prices for round-trip itineraries):

United flights from the U.S. to Europe in business class

Current pricing: 88,000 miles

Revised pricing: 100,000 miles

United flights from the U.S. to South Africa in business class

Current pricing: 104,000 miles

Revised pricing: 130,000 miles

Turkish Airlines flights from the U.S. to Turkey in business class

Current pricing: 88,000 miles

Revised pricing: 100,000 miles

Air New Zealand flights from the U.S. to New Zealand in business class

Current pricing: 120,000 miles

Revised pricing: 145,000 miles

Most partner-operated routes will require 10% to 25% more Mileage Club miles. That's a big increase, sure, but remember that Mileage Club prices awards as round-trips. When you break the pricing down by segment, it's a little easier to digest.

Final Thoughts

ANA is planning a Mileage Club award chart devaluation effective April 18, 2024. Mid-April is a ways away, so there's still time to lock in ANA and partner awards at the current rates. And as we've covered, there are plenty of ANA sweet spots worth shelling out miles for.

A devaluation is a devaluation. That much is for sure. But compared to what you'll pay for awards — especially round-trip awards — with other carriers, ANA Mileage Club will still remain competitive price-wise. Seen what United is charging for Polaris award flights to Europe lately? It's a night and day difference, and that won't really change — even after April 18, 2024.

Page Contents

ANA Mileage Club To Devalue Award Charts on April 18, 2024

ANA-operated awards

Partner-operated awards

Final Thoughts

We’ve got good news, and we’ve got bad news.
