In fact, the more benefits there are, the higher the annual fee tends to be. But for a card that offers a good amount of perks and benefits, the <a data-ccid=\"2061159\" href=\"\/blog\/link\/ChaseSapphirePreferredCard\" rel=\"noopener nofollow sponsored\">Sapphire Preferred<\/a> charges a relatively low annual fee of just $95, making it well worth the cost.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Earning_Categories_for_Bonus_Rewards\">Earning Categories for Bonus Rewards<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You can earn extra points on travel and other common spending categories with the Chase Sapphire Preferred. Previously, unless you spent a lot on dining, online grocery purchases, or streaming, it was hard to earn a stash of points. Personally, I've never placed an online grocery order, and I only subscribe to streaming services that I get credits for through other cards.<\/p>\n<p>That meant I rarely used my Sapphire Preferred. However, when the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/news\/credit-cards\/chase-sapphire-preferred-card-changes\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Sapphire Preferred got a refresh in June 2026<\/a>, it added two bonus categories: vacation homes and gas\/EV charging stations. If you regularly stay in Airbnbs, it's now going to be incredibly easy to earn a ton of bonus points.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/news\/chase-ultimate-rewards\/chase-removing-sapphire-preferred-anniversary-bonus\/\" rel=\"noopener\">10% anniversary bonus is getting removed on <strong>October 1, 2026<\/strong><\/a>, for anyone who applied before June 15, 2026. If you applied after June 15, 2026, you aren't eligible for any anniversary bonus. To set up this feature, you'll first need to call the number on the back of your card to link your accounts. Moving forward, you can combine points easily online.<\/p>\n<p>Our household takes advantage of combining points quite a bit since my spouse only has a Freedom Unlimited. He earns points on his card, then we combine them onto my <a data-ccid=\"2061159\" href=\"\/blog\/link\/ChaseSapphirePreferredCard\" rel=\"noopener nofollow sponsored\">Sapphire Preferred<\/a>, making it easy to redeem for valuable flights or hotels. This benefit alone makes the Chase Sapphire Preferred worth it for us.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Travel_Benefits\">Travel Benefits<\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span id=\"Points_transfer_partners\">Points transfer partners<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>This card is part of the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/credit-cards\/chase-ultimate-rewards\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Chase Ultimate Rewards program<\/a>, which is a huge benefit. While there are <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/credit-cards\/chase-ultimate-rewards\/best-way-to-use-chase-points\/\" rel=\"noopener\">dozens of ways to use Chase Ultimate Rewards points<\/a>, the best way to use points for maximum value tends to be with Chase's four hotel and 10 airline partners.<\/p>\n<p>Remember that you can redeem points through Chase Travel\u2120\u00a0for 1 cent each \u2014 or potentially up to 1.5 cents each with <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/credit-cards\/chase-ultimate-rewards\/points-boost\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Chase's Points Boost program<\/a>. However, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/point-mile-values\/Chase\" rel=\"noopener\">AwardWallet users typically redeem Chase points at 2.02\u00a2 each<\/a> with transfer partners, earning nearly double the value compared to redeeming through Chase Travel\u2120.
