Unfortunately, you can't earn the Companion Pass from this offer alone, but you can use this offer to jumpstart your progress.<\/p>\n<p>If you apply for the card in mid-October, you could wait until after January 1, 2027, before completing the spending requirement.<\/p>\n<p>That way, you'll earn 80,000 points in 2027. Add on the 10,000 bonus Companion Pass-qualifying points that Southwest cardmembers receive each calendar year, and you'll start the year with 90,000 qualifying points, plus some of the points you earn from meeting the minimum spending requirement. Then, you'll need just 45,000 more qualifying points to enjoy one of the most valuable perks in travel for all of 2027 and 2028!<\/p>\n<p>Keep in mind that timing is key here. If you want to employ this strategy, you'll need to wait to apply until you can earn the welcome bonus in January 2027.
