But we feel it's worth reiterating that we are not proponents of buying miles \u2014 at least not without a plan.<\/p>\n<p>If an airline offers a bonus or discount promotion, it might be worth considering. But just because an airline is running a promotion doesn't mean you should immediately reach for your wallet. Buying miles and points doesn't always provide value, even with a promotion on the table.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, we prefer to earn miles and points organically. Better yet, you can earn a sign-up bonus card to juice your mileage balance without buying miles outright.<\/p>\n<p>As a new applicant, you can earn up to 50,000 bonus miles after spending $1,000 on purchases and paying the annual fee in full, both within the first 90 days.
