The transition from IHG to Hyatt is now complete. As of January 9, 2025, World of Hyatt members can earn and use points on stays at The Venetian.

Here's what World of Hyatt members need to know about Hyatt's newest partnership in Las Vegas.

The Venetian Left the IHG Portfolio and Joined World of Hyatt

The Venetian was part of the IHG portfolio from 2010 to 2024 before Hyatt announced a new licensing agreement. This was welcome news after MGM left World of Hyatt for Marriott Bonvoy, which removed several bookable properties from Hyatt channels.

However, that has now changed with The Venetian joining the Hyatt portfolio. That means you won't see the name “Hyatt” around the resort. However, staying here will count towards the Brand Explorer perk, and stays will earn points and elite bonuses. The elite perks on offer will be a bit of a different story, though.

More about The Venetian Resort Las Vegas

The Venetian opened in 1999, and a sister resort on the same property, The Palazzo Tower, opened in 2003. Between the two resorts, The Venetian has around 7,100 rooms, making it the second-largest hotel in the world. Fun fact: The largest hotel in the world is in a remote town in Malaysia. But The Venetian isn't just any hotel. Every room at The Venetian is a suite roughly twice the size of an average hotel room.

The resort is clearly modeled after Venice, Italy, and many landmarks, including the Campanile Tower and St. Mark's Square, were recreated. In addition to beautiful scenery and artwork, The Venetian has many restaurants and other attractions. Over the years, shows at the resort have included the Blue Man Group, Rock of Ages, and Human Nature. The current headline act is the Atomic Saloon Show.

World of Hyatt Benefits at The Venetian

Hyatt's partnership with The Venetian offers some benefits to World of Hyatt members on their hotel stays, but they aren't great.

Of course, the most basic benefit is earning and using World of Hyatt points on stays at The Venetian. As usual, members can earn 5X base points per dollar spent on the stay, up to 30% bonus points depending on the Hyatt elite status you hold, and an additional 4X points when using a Hyatt credit card. Points are earned on rooms, participating restaurants and bars, select retail, and resort fees when charged to the room.

World of Hyatt Elite members receive additional benefits:

Expedited check-in

Late checkout (until 2 p.m.) and early check-in as available

Suite upgrades as available

15% discount on gondola rides, Canyon Ranch Spa, and select retail outlets

Unfortunately, The Venetian does not offer any other benefits afforded to World of Hyatt elite members, such as complimentary breakfast for Globalists, waived resort fees, etc. Additionally, members can not use Free Night Awards, including Brand Explorer Awards, Category 1-4 Free Night Awards, Category 1-7 Free Night Awards, or Ultimate Free Night Awards at The Venetian or the Palazzo Tower.

Booking a Suite at The Venetian or The Palazzo Tower

If you want to earn World of Hyatt points at The Venetian or The Palazzo Tower, you must book your stay through the Hyatt website, not The Venetian website. Any stays booked through The Venetian or Palazzo websites or any third-party booking site will not earn World of Hyatt points or elite status credits. Only stays booked on or after January 9, 2025, qualify to earn World of Hyatt points.

When booking The Venetian through Hyatt, you will not earn Venetian Rewards as you would if you booked directly, nor will you receive any benefits from any Venetian Rewards elite status. If you have Venetian Rewards Ruby Tier or above, you're far better off booking directly at the hotel and not through Hyatt.

What does a stay at The Venetian or Palazzo cost?

Rates at The Venetian and The Palazzo Tower fluctuate wildly. Like most properties in Las Vegas, you can book for as little as a couple hundred dollars, but rates can double or triple in the blink of an eye.

You can book stays with your World of Hyatt points. Unfortunately, these hotels don't participate in Hyatt's standard award redemption categories. Instead, the rates are revenue-based. And that should be mild cause for concern.

Let's look at an example to showcase how this works and the value you can unlock. This April, you can book a one-night stay in a Luxury King Suite for as little as $255.33, which includes all the taxes and fees.

Credit: Hyatt</enter>

You can book this same room for 26,000 points. Divide the cash cost by the points cost, and you're left with a value of 0.98 cents apiece. That's pretty poor, considering AwardWallet users typically redeem Hyatt points for 2.19¢ each.

Credit: Hyatt</enter>

It's worth noting that this value can fluctuate. If the cash cost flies higher, you might get even less value for your points. And the same goes with The Palazzo. As such, you're probably better off earning points at these properties rather than using them to book stays there.

Our Take

In 2024, World of Hyatt members did not have the option to use their points on the Las Vegas Strip. Members could use points at the Hyatt Place Las Vegas and the Rio Hotel and Casino, but those are Strip-adjacent.

Earning World of Hyatt points on stays at The Venetian is now an excellent option. However, you might want to reconsider if you want to use your points to book a stay. A redemption value of 1 cent or less for World of Hyatt points is subpar. And don't expect any great benefits from your World of Hyatt elite status at The Venetian beyond early check-in, late checkout, suite upgrades, and a 15% discount on gondola rides and retail outlets.

Page Contents

The Venetian Left the IHG Portfolio and Joined World of Hyatt

More about The Venetian Resort Las Vegas

World of Hyatt Benefits at The Venetian

Booking a Suite at The Venetian or The Palazzo Tower

What does a stay at The Venetian or Palazzo cost?

Our Take

In December 2024, Hyatt announced a long-term licensing agreement with The Venetian and The Palazzo.
