Here\u2019s my take on the options based on personal experience:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The 5 <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/hotels\/marriott-bonvoy\/nightly-upgrade-awards\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Nightly Upgrade Awards<\/a> are my top choice.<\/strong> I\u2019ve selected this benefit every year I\u2019ve qualified. While they\u2019re not guaranteed to clear, they\u2019ve provided excellent value when they do. The success rate varies by property, and it\u2019s frustrating when properties deny upgrades even when rooms appear available.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The 1 Free Night Award offered at the 75-night tier is a close second. <\/strong>You can use it to book a reward night at properties with rates up to 40,000 points. This perk could easily translate to $400 in value depending on when and where you redeem it. And unlike upgrade awards, you don't have to guess whether this perk will be honored.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The 5 <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/credit-cards\/marriott-bonvoy\/marriott-elite-night-credit\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Elite Night Credits<\/a> are a bit more situational.<\/strong> Selecting this option can be worth it if these credits will push you over the threshold to the next elite tier \u2014 say, from 70 to 75 nights &#8212; or closer to lifetime status. However, they don't provide any value if you\u2019ve already achieved the status you're aiming for.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Marriott bed discount is a niche choice.<\/strong> If you\u2019ve ever loved a Marriott mattress so much you wanted to take it home, this is your chance \u2014 though even with the discount, these beds are pricey.<\/li>\n<li><strong>When it comes to gifting Silver or Gold Elite status, I steer clear.<\/strong> Both Silver and Gold status are easy to earn through credit cards. And Gold still doesn\u2019t provide lounge access or <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/hotels\/marriott-bonvoy\/free-breakfast\/\" rel=\"noopener\">free breakfast<\/a> at many brands.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Finally, there\u2019s the charitable donation.<\/strong> While this doesn\u2019t directly benefit you as a traveler, it\u2019s a reasonable choice if you\u2019re passionate about giving back. I prefer to select travel-related benefits, but I can see the appeal of contributing to a special cause if you can't maximize any other benefits.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>My go-to choices are the Nightly Upgrade Awards and the Free Night Award.
