Update 10\/1\/2025: Well, that was short-lived! JetBlue ended its partnership with TAP Portugal effective September 30, 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n

JetBlue TrueBlue points have historically been most valuable when redeemed for flights with its airline partners<\/a> rather than JetBlue-operated flights. Until now, those partners included Etihad Airways, Hawaiian Airlines, and Qatar Airways<\/a>. On Wednesday, JetBlue added TAP Air Portugal to the list. Now, TrueBlue members can redeem points for TAP Portugal economy and business class flights to and from Europe (and beyond).<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what you need to know about this new redemption option.<\/p>\n

You Can Now Redeem JetBlue TrueBlue Points for TAP Air Portugal Flights<\/span><\/h2>\n

First, the basics. TAP Air Portugal flights are now bookable with TrueBlue<\/a> points on JetBlue's website. Sometimes, new partnerships require booking through the airline's call center, but not with this new partnership.<\/p>\n

It appears that TAP Air Portugal's own metal offers economy class for 19,000 points and business class for 59,000 points from the U.S. to Europe, as shown in this search from Newark, New Jersey (EWR) to Porto, Portugal (OPO) for early February 2025.<\/p>\n

There are no\u00a0carrier-imposed surcharges<\/a> for these flights. Taxes are $5.60 one-way from the U.S. for direct flights, though they can vary depending on which airport you depart from in Europe.<\/p>\n

Many more interesting routes are available with this new partnership, not just ones to or from the U.S. Take, for instance, a flight from Lisbon to S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 and Pr\u00edncipe, a small African country. Business class awards are priced at 69,000 points each way, plus taxes.<\/p>\n

If you're interested in performing your own search for award availability, you'll have to search route by route \u2014 but you can also see results on Seats.aero<\/a>. We are still trying to figure out the award chart for this partnership and will update this post when we figure it out.<\/p>\n

It seems that flights are priced per leg. So, it may be worth searching for and booking separate reservations for flights that require a connection. While flights direct to Lisbon from Boston would be priced at 19,000 points each way in economy, a connecting itinerary to Geneva is priced at 31,900 points:<\/p>\n

How To Earn JetBlue TrueBlue Points<\/span><\/h2>\n

There are several ways to earn JetBlue points<\/a>. Of course, you could earn them by flying on JetBlue flights. JetBlue has several credit card products that earn TrueBlue points as well. There's even a new premium option that launched just a few short days ago:<\/p>\n
