Emirates has unveiled the new suites for its Boeing 777 fleet at the Dubai Airshow and they are truly stunning. The new suites will first feature on Emirates\u2019 new 777 aircraft, and your first chance to fly them will be on the Dubai\/DXB > Brussels\/BRU route on December 1, 2017.<\/p>\n

Unlike the current aircraft which have 8 First class suites, the new configuration will only have 6 suites per aircraft, giving each premium traveler 40 sq ft of space. There will be 2 rows of suites in a 1-1-1 configuration across the body of the aircraft.<\/p>\n

The new suites, which were designed in collaboration with Boeing, Panasonic, Jacques Pierre Jean Design studio, Rockwell Collins interior systems, and Seattle-based Teague, will have a host of features including floor to ceiling enclosed doors and a new color palette for Emirates\u2019 interiors.<\/p>\n

The seats will also feature a \u201czero-gravity\u201d position, which was inspired by technology developed by NASA. The position offers perfect comfort and relaxation.<\/p>\n

Each suite also comes with an impressive 32-inch screen to enjoy the in-flight entertainment system, and a separate tablet screen to control the IFE. You will be able to enjoy the IFE using the supplied Bowers & Wilkins Active Noise Cancelling E1 headphones.<\/p>\n

Virtual Windows<\/span><\/h2>\n

Each passenger will have three windows and will be provided with binoculars to gaze at the sky. If you are wondering what the suites at the center of the plane will look at, Emirates is introducing revolutionary virtual windows. The windows will be a screen broadcasting a live image of what is going on outside of the plane.<\/p>\n

When it comes to interacting with the crew, Emirates has also raised the bar with the introduction of video chat from the comfort of your seat using the IFE controller.<\/p>\n

How Do The New Suites Compare<\/span><\/h2>\n

As a premium product, the new suites deliver, even though they are not quite up to the standard of Singapore Suites<\/a>. They are definitely way ahead of everything else out there except perhaps for the Etihad apartment.<\/p>\n

Although Emirates revealed a new Business class product during the same announcement, it is nothing to write home about with a 2-3-2 configuration! The new Business class is still behind the newly launched Delta business class suites<\/a> and way behind the revolutionary Qatar Qsuites<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Our Take<\/span><\/h2>\n

Improvements to premium products are always good news, and when they are this good, they are excellent news. The new suites, coming hot on the heels of Singapore unveiling a new product, shows quite an interesting trend in aviation.<\/p>\n

While airlines are trying to cram more economy passengers in the back of the plane with constant pitch reduction, and going to 10 seats abreast on some wide-bodied jets, they also seem to be upping their premium product and giving passengers better and better facilities for a hefty premium. The strategy seems designed to combat the pressures from low-cost carriers, by offering a basic service at the back of the plane, while still providing a highly differentiated premium product at the front.<\/p>\n
