For award travelers, the ability to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/news\/alaska-atmos-rewards\/hawaiian-alaska-mileage-transfers\/\" rel=\"noopener\">transfer miles between Hawaiian and Alaska<\/a> has created some interesting opportunities with Amex Membership Rewards \u2014 but that presumably won't last forever. These include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Boyd Rewards<\/li>\n<li>Foodland<\/li>\n<li>HELE<\/li>\n<li>KOA Pancake House<\/li>\n<li>Kono's<\/li>\n<li>Maui Jim<\/li>\n<li>The Alley Restaurant at Aiea Bowl<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The announcement noted that many partners are expected to join the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/airlines\/alaska-atmos-rewards\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Alaska Mileage Plan program<\/a> later in 2025, though no specific details were shared. As part of the merger, Hawaiian Airlines\u2019 loyalty program will eventually sunset. Mileage Plan is expected to become the unified program for both airlines. Any flights booked before then must be completed by March 31, 2026. Likewise, the deadline to submit any flight credit requests is March 31, 2026.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"How_These_Upcoming_Changes_Might_Impact_You\">How These Upcoming Changes Might Impact You<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Of the six airline partnerships ending in June, two \u2014 Japan Airlines (a Oneworld member) and Korean Air (a non-alliance partner) \u2014 are already Alaska Mileage Plan partners. In other words, you\u2019ll still be able to book these carriers with Alaska miles even after the partnerships end.<\/p>\n<p>However, the other four airlines (Virgin Australia, Virgin Atlantic, China Airlines, and JetBlue) do not currently partner with Alaska and are unlikely to return unless new agreements are reached with the combined airline in the future.<\/p>\n<p>On the merchant side, many partnerships made sense when Hawaiian Airlines operated independently, but maybe not so much anymore. Alaska does offer a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/shopping\/dining-rewards-programs\/\" rel=\"noopener\">dining program<\/a>, so it\u2019s possible that some of the local restaurant partners in Hawaii could be integrated into it over time.<\/p>\n<p>Other merchants may also appear in the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/airlines\/alaska-atmos-rewards\/alaska-airlines-shopping\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Alaska Mileage Plan Shopping portal<\/a>. For example, while Maui Jim is not currently a participating retailer, there\u2019s a chance it could join in the future.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Final_Thoughts\">Final Thoughts<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Overall, these announcements signal that we\u2019re getting closer to a fully integrated Mileage Plan program. Hawaiian Airlines credit cards are also expected to disappear at some point. Additionally, rumors suggest that <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/news\/alaska-atmos-rewards\/hawaiian-alaska-mileage-transfers\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Amex Membership Rewards transfers to Hawaiian Airlines<\/a> may end soon &#8212; possibly also on June 30, although that is not confirmed. If you\u2019re thinking about transferring points, it\u2019s best to act soon.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s always disappointing when partnerships end, but change is inevitable as airlines merge operations, partnerships, and loyalty programs. The good news is that Hawaiian provided plenty of advance notice. You have until <strong>June 30, 2025<\/strong>, to book award flights with affected partners, redeem miles with partner merchants, and earn rewards with partners like Rocket Mortgage.<\/p>\n<p>But after that, there's a good chance that some of these partnerships will carry over to the new Mileage Plan.
