The Chase Sapphire Reserve<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/news\/chase-ultimate-rewards\/chase-sapphire-reserve-changes\/\" rel=\"noopener\">raised its annual fee and refreshed its benefits<\/a>. Amex has announced that changes are coming to the American Express Platinum Card<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>. Now, Mastercard is making moves of its own with a series of updates that anyone who participates in the luxury card space should take note of.<\/p>\n<p>Most notably, Mastercard is rolling out new lifestyle benefits for many cardholders and introducing a new premium tier called World Legend, positioned above its existing World and World Elite card types.<\/p>\n<p>So, what do all these changes mean? Let's dig into the details.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"New_Benefits_and_Tiers_Coming_to_Mastercard\">New Benefits and Tiers Coming to Mastercard<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Mastercard is <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/investor.mastercard.com\/investor-news\/investor-news-details\/2025\/Elevating-Cardholder-Experiences-Worldwide-With-the-Mastercard-Collection-and-Introduction-of-World-Legend-Mastercard\/default.aspx\" rel=\"noopener\">introducing new lifestyle perks<\/a> across its World, World Elite, and new World Legend card tiers. If you already have a Mastercard in your wallet, chances are it\u2019s a World or <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/credit-cards\/world-elite-mastercard-benefits\/\" rel=\"noopener\">World Elite card<\/a>. Here\u2019s a look at what\u2019s included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Dining:<\/strong> Priority reservations at top restaurants, along with curated menus and experiences<\/li>\n<li><strong>Entertainment:<\/strong> Access to tickets, including presales and premium seating through Live Nation, plus select sporting event access<\/li>\n<li><strong>Travel:<\/strong> Use of 190 fast-track security lanes at over 30 airports and entry to more than 1,350 lounges in 600 cities and nearly 150 countries. Some lounges also feature Mastercard-exclusive dining area<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When I logged into the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.priceless.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Priceless website<\/a> with my AAdvantage<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Aviator<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Red World Elite Mastercard<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>, the Fast Track program currently shows just three participating airports in Italy:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Catania International Airport (CTA)<\/li>\n<li>Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport (OLB)<\/li>\n<li>Turin Airport (TRN)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Related: <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/credit-cards\/best-credit-card-benefits\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Credit Card Benefits You May Not Realize You Already Have<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"The_new_World_Legend_card_type\">The new World Legend card type<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Mastercard has also introduced a new premium tier called the World Legend card. Positioned above World Elite, this card is aimed at higher-spending customers and promises \u201cexceptional and exclusive experiences.\u201d Mastercard plans to launch World Legend in the U.S. in Q3 2025.<\/p>\n<p>While details are still limited, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.citigroup.com\/global\/news\/press-release\/2025\/citi-second-quarter-2025-earnings-call\" rel=\"noopener\">Citi confirmed during its July 15 earnings call<\/a> that it will launch the <strong>Citi Strata Elite\u2120 Card<\/strong> soon, targeting luxury customers. It\u2019s likely this will be the first World Legend product in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll learn more once Citi formally unveils the full suite of benefits. But given the current competition in the luxury card market, this move is hardly surprising.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, it'll be interesting to see whether the <a data-ccid=\"3006107\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/credit-cards\/mastercard-black-card\/\">Mastercard<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Black Card<sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/a> transitions from World Elite to World Legend. We haven't heard anything to support this, but it would make sense given the card's target market.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Our_Take\">Our Take<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>This is a notable move from Citi and a clear indication of how aggressively the premium card market is evolving.
