If you\u2019ve never been, it deserves a spot on your bucket list for the scenery, the food, and the attractions alone, even if you're not going for the AutoCamp experience. Renting at the airport or driving your own to Cape Cod can make exploring the surrounding area much easier than relying on rideshare apps or the CCRTA bus system. That wouldn\u2019t have been a big deal if it hadn\u2019t been pushing 90 degrees, something I couldn\u2019t have possibly predicted a month earlier when I booked the stay.<\/p>\n<p>The day after we left, though, the weather dropped back into the low 70s. The Airstream Suite was awesome, and by the end of the trip, I wasn\u2019t all that thrilled to leave. Depending on where you're assigned, that could mean a fairly long walk from the clubhouse or a short one. After pulling the shades and knocking the thermostat down a few degrees, it was perfectly comfortable inside.<\/p>\n<p>And if you wonder why there are a couple of thermostats on the wall when only one system is running, it\u2019s partly because the original units installed with the Airstreams (there are two on the roof of each) were a bit too noisy for the locals. But you didn\u2019t hear that from me. That issue encouraged the property to install mini-splits to keep guests comfortable.<\/p>\n<p>But if you visit when it\u2019s not so hot, AC won\u2019t be the first thing on your mind. Here you'll find cabinets stocked with pots, pans, plates, and flatware, plus a microwave and a sink. It\u2019s located opposite the kitchen, though we never ended up inspecting it since the couch became a catchall for our stuff.<\/p>\n<p>The biggest takeaway about the Airstream was how functional the space was. The layout is simple enough to walk around without getting lost, and most of the campsites surround the clubhouse.<\/p>\n<p>We walked several laps around the property between check-in and checkout, mostly to take pictures and catch a better view of the sunset. This was originally where our reservation was booked, and likely where we would have stayed if not for the complimentary upgrade.<\/p>\n<p>The tents are more spacious than you might expect. Each one has a king-size bed, which is actually larger than what you will find in any of the Airstreams or cabins. Although Lehnen mentioned that pricing this out can be a bit tricky, since not every Airstream has the same view and some are more expensive than others, it still makes the property worth considering for family gatherings, weddings, or corporate events.<\/p>\n<p>Or, if you're flush with cash, you could rent out the entire campground. Lehnen shared a story about someone who did just that for a birthday weekend and spent well over two hundred thousand dollars in the process. This was one of Pete\u2019s recommendations, along with Woods Hole, which we also visited by rideshare.<\/p>\n<p>This is where having a vehicle comes in handy, especially if you want to explore more of the Cape. As a Hilton Honors elite, you're entitled to a bundle of firewood, and it made for an awesome evening.<\/p>\n<p>The property offers a complimentary s'mores kit to Hilton Honors\u2122 Diamond elites, though they gave us one to try out as well. That said, these s'mores kits might not be around for much longer. They're incredibly rich and expensive to procure, and Lehnen indicated that something new is in the works on that front. But there's nothing wrong with bringing your own supplies or purchasing some on the Cape.<\/p>\n<p>Still, with the matches, the firewood, and a fire starter puck, lighting a fire and enjoying a s'more outside the Airstream was the perfect way to end the day. And in my opinion, there\u2019s no better way to use points than on fun experiences.<\/p>\n<p>Simply put, the Airstream, the amenities, and the location made for a memorable getaway, and now I'm torn between planning a trip back to Cape Cod or checking out another AutoCamp property.
