But the big one is this: on most awards, it hasn\u2019t been charging you enough KrisFlyer miles!<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why, effective <strong>November 1, 2025<\/strong>, at 0000 hrs (GMT+8) \u2014 or 12:00 noon Eastern Time on October 31, 2025 \u2014 the starting price for most KrisFlyer awards will increase by up to nearly 20%. Here\u2019s how those changes are presented:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Economy Saver (Zones 1\u20139):<\/strong> 5% reduction in award rates for flights within Asia and South West Pacific<\/li>\n<li><strong>Business and First\/Suites Saver (Zones 1\u20139):<\/strong> 5% increase in award rates<\/li>\n<li><strong>Saver awards (Zones 10\u201313):<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Europe and U.S. (Zones 11\u201313): 5% increase across all cabins<\/li>\n<li>Africa, Middle East, Turkey (Zone 10): 10\u201320% increase across all cabins<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Advantage awards (all zones except Zone 10):<\/strong> 10\u201315% increase across all cabins<\/li>\n<li><strong>Advantage awards (Zone 10 only):<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Economy: 5% increase<\/li>\n<li>Business: 18% increase<\/li>\n<li>First: 15% increase<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At the bottom of that webpage, there\u2019s also an interesting tidbit: \u201c<em>All figures reflect the changes for one-way Singapore Airlines flight awards between Singapore and the corresponding regions, and are approximated.<\/em>\u201d Hopefully, \u201capproximated\u201d doesn't mean that the actual changes will be worse than anticipated.<\/p>\n<p>Semantics aside, these changes will still impact you if you like to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/airlines\/singapore-krisflyer-miles\/\" rel=\"noopener\">redeem KrisFlyer miles<\/a> for flights between the U.S. and Europe on Singapore Airlines\u2019 fifth-freedom routes (like New York to Frankfurt) or on ultra-long-haul flights to Singapore. Here\u2019s what those redemptions will soon cost:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>New York (JFK) to Frankfurt (FRA):\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Economy: 27,500 miles for a Saver award (up from 25,000)<\/li>\n<li>Premium Economy: 57,000 miles for a Saver award (up from 52,000)<\/li>\n<li>Business: 89,000 miles for a Saver award (up from 81,000)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>New York (JFK)\/Newark (EWR) to Singapore (SIN):<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Economy: 46,000 miles for a Saver award (up from 44,000)<\/li>\n<li>Premium Economy: 84,500 miles for a Saver award (up from 80,500)<\/li>\n<li>Business: 117,000 miles for a Saver award (up from 111,500)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These aren\u2019t massive devaluations, but the reality is that Singapore Airlines\u2013operated awards are about to get more expensive. Unfortunately, Singapore Airlines is also raising the cost of Star Alliance partner awards.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike with its own flights, the airline didn\u2019t provide a simple before-and-after breakdown. So, we lined up the old rates against the new ones to see how much more you\u2019ll pay. Here\u2019s what the damage looks like on some of the more popular partner routes between regions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Awards from North America to Europe are rising by up to 10.5%<\/strong> \u2014 6.6% in economy, 10.5% in business, and 10.3% in first class.\n<ul>\n<li>Old one-way rates: 30,500 miles in economy, 81,000 in business, 121,000 in first<\/li>\n<li>New one-way rates: 32,500 miles in economy, 89,500 in business, 133,500 in first<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Awards from North America to North Asia 2 (which includes Japan and South Korea) are up to 10.2% higher<\/strong> \u2014 5.0% in economy, 10.0% in business, and 10.2% in first class.\n<ul>\n<li>Old one-way rates: 59,500 miles in economy, 129,500 in business, 157,500 in first<\/li>\n<li>New one-way rates: 62,500 miles in economy, 142,500 in business, 173,500 in first<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Intra\u2013North America awards are climbing by up to 11.5%<\/strong> \u2014 7.1% in economy, 11.5% in business, and 10.3% in first class.\n<ul>\n<li>Old one-way rates: 14,000 miles in economy, 26,000 in business, 39,000 in first<\/li>\n<li>New one-way rates: 15,000 miles in economy, 29,000 in business, 43,000 in first<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Awards from North America to Hawaii are increasing by up to 10.6%<\/strong> \u2014 5.1% in economy, 10.3% in business, and 10.6% in first class.\n<ul>\n<li>Old one-way rates: 19,500 miles in economy, 39,000 in business, 52,000 in first<\/li>\n<li>New one-way rates: 20,500 miles in economy, 43,000 in business, 57,500 in first<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Put differently, a one-way United flight from Newark to London that currently costs 81,000 miles will soon cost 89,500 miles. So, if you've got plenty of KrisFlyer miles, this might be an award you want to book now. They're pretty expensive to begin with, and you still have to pay cash for your original ticket \u2014 and book into a pricier fare class to be eligible. And soon, these upgrades will get even more expensive.<\/p>\n<p>For example, upgrading an economy ticket from New York to Frankfurt into premium economy will cost 30,500 miles. Today, that same upgrade requires just 15,000 miles. But they\u2019re a bit easier to stomach when an airline gives members fair warning, which Singapore Airlines did this time around. That said, time is running out to book KrisFlyer awards at current rates, so if you\u2019ve been planning a redemption, you\u2019ll want to act soon.<\/p>\n<p>On <strong>November 1, 2025 &#8212;<\/strong> or around mid-day October 31 if you\u2019re in the United States &#8212; Singapore is increasing award rates on its flights, its Star Alliance partners, a few non-alliance partners, and even mileage upgrades on cash tickets. These changes aren\u2019t as drastic as they could have been, but a devaluation still stings no matter how small.<\/p>\n<p>If you happen to need a few more miles to snag the award you want, you're in luck. Singapore Airlines partners with several transferable point programs, and you\u2019ll usually see your miles <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/en\/mile-transfer-times?program=Singapore%2520Airlines\" rel=\"noopener\">within a couple days<\/a> of initiating a transfer \u2014 so don't wait much longer to transfer and book.<\/p>\n<div class=\"transfer-times\"><div class=\"tt-row\"><div
