If you have elite status with any of these 12 airlines, you may be able to gift it to a friend or family member. Here's what to know.<\/p>\n
Air Canada Aeroplan<\/span><\/h3>\n
Starting on January 1, 2026, there will be changes to how you earn Air Canada Aeroplan elite status<\/a>. The airline is following the lead of many U.S. airlines in moving to a spend-based system.<\/p>\n
As a perk of holding Aeroplan Elite 50K, 75K, and Super Elite status, you can choose a select benefit. One of these benefits is a status pass. While you aren't technically gifting elite status, you are gifting all of the benefits associated with having elite status to someone for one trip, such as:<\/p>\n

- Priority airport check-in, security clearance, boarding, and baggage handling<\/li>\n
- Maple Leaf Lounge and Air Canada Caf\u00e9 access<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Note that perks you'd typically associate with elite status — like complimentary upgrades — are not on this list.<\/p>\n

- Aeroplan 75K<\/strong>: Three passes if chosen as a Select Benefit<\/li>\n
- Aeroplan Super Elite<\/strong>: Two passes as a Core Benefit, and four additional passes if chosen as a Select Benefit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
You can gift a status pass to anyone as long as they have an existing reservation on the books. The recipient and their travel companions will enjoy the benefits of having status throughout their entire trip.<\/p>\n
