The World Cup is one of the biggest sporting events in the world, and it's happening right here in North America this summer. The first game of the World Cup will take place on June 11, 2026, in Mexico City, while the final will be on July 19, 2026, in New York\/New Jersey. FIFA anticipates more than 6.5 million fans will attend the World Cup, spread across 104 matches played by 48 teams.<\/p>\n

Soon, American Airlines AAdvantage\u00ae<\/sup> members will have another opportunity to redeem miles for tickets<\/a>. Here's what you need to know about your last chance to get tickets.<\/p>\n

Use AAdvantage Miles to Buy World Cup Tickets<\/span><\/h2>\n

Tickets to the World Cup are released in phases. The first was a Visa Presale Draw<\/a>, running from September 10 to 19, 2025, for Visa cardholders. Then there was the Early Ticket Draw, with an entry period from October 27 to 31, 2025. The third phase, the Random Selection Draw, ran between December 11, 2025, and January 13, 2026.<\/p>\n

If you're like me and weren't selected, you have one final chance to score tickets. We're now in the final sales phase \u2014 the Last-Minute Sales Phase, which began on April 1 and will continue until the end of the tournament on July 19. You can also use the FIFA Resale\/Exchange marketplace to buy second-hand tickets.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, these tickets are significantly more expensive than we originally thought. After the first round of tickets went on sale to chosen Visa cardholders, we saw dynamic pricing in full effect. The cheapest tickets \u2014 Category 4 tickets to group stage matches \u2014 were forecast to cost $60.<\/p>\n

However, these tickets are extremely rare, so you'll likely need to shell out quite a bit more to snag a ticket. In all likelihood, you'll pay hundreds of dollars, if not more, for any ticket to the World Cup. And somehow, those presale tickets were still affordable compared to today's prices. Tickets have increased with each subsequent sales phase.<\/p>\n

You'll be able to buy up to four tickets per match for up to 10 matches, for a total of 40 tickets. However, American Airlines AAdvantage<\/a> members will have a unique opportunity to use miles to purchase tickets.<\/p>\n

How to score World Cup tickets with AAdvantage miles<\/span><\/h3>\n

Starting April 9, 2026<\/strong>, AAdvantage members will be able to redeem miles for some of the most anticipated matches<\/a>. Those with AA elite status<\/a> will have first access:<\/p>\n
