Depending on your airline, that connection could be in hubs like Taipei (TPE), Hong Kong (HKG), Manila (MNL), Tokyo (NRT), or Doha (DOH). Major carriers including Emirates, Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, and ANA all serve Kuala Lumpur.

That opens the door to some of the best business-class award options to Asia. For example, Japan Airlines offers business-class awards from North America to Japan starting at 55,000 miles one way, when available. From there, you can book a short intra-Asia flight to Kuala Lumpur.

Or, you can book a Singapore Airlines flight with a stopover in Singapore or Japan so you can visit two cities for the price of one. However, you can only add a stopover on an Advantage award, not a Saver award. Still, the flight from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur is just one hour, so it's an easy way to break up your trip.

Credit: Singapore Airlines</enter>

Since there’s no single best program for flying to Kuala Lumpur, a card that earns transferable points can give you more flexibility.
