This year has been filled with launches of new credit cards and overhauls of existing cards. Even amid award chart devaluations and increased annual fees, it's been a largely positive year for credit card enthusiasts. However, it seems that all good things must come to an end. The Mesa Homeowners Card has shut down, effective immediately \u2014 just a year after launching in November 2024.<\/p>\n

Here's what you need to know if you were a Mesa Homeowners Card holder.<\/p>\n

All Mesa Homeowners Cards Shut Down Immediately<\/span><\/h2>\n

The Mesa Homeowners Card<\/a> was somewhat of a unicorn in the credit card industry. It targeted homeowners who wanted to earn points on home-related expenses, including a linked mortgage. Even though it didn't charge an annual fee, it offered a variety of statement credits homeowners could appreciate, such as a $65 annual Costco membership credit and a $120 annual Lowe's credit.<\/p>\n

Not only could you earn 1X Mesa Points on linked mortgage payments (up to 100,000 points per year), you could also earn 3X Mesa Points on home and family expenses like home improvement, decor, maintenance, utilities, and daycare. Those points could be redeemed as a statement credit at a flat rate of 0.6 cents, for gift cards or cash for your mortgage payment at a rate of 0.8 cents, or transferred to several travel partners<\/a> for potentially higher value.<\/p>\n

If all of this sounds too good to be true, you'd be correct. Mesa informed cardholders on December 12, 2025<\/strong>, that the Mesa Homeowners Card is discontinued, effective immediately, and all accounts are closed.<\/p>\n

This announcement was made a few days after several cardholders reported declined transactions when attempting to use their card.<\/p>\n

What to do if you're an impacted cardholder<\/span><\/h3>\n

The no-warning shutdown is extremely frustrating for cardholders, who are now left with only one way to redeem rewards: as a statement credit, which offers the lowest redemption value of all previous methods.<\/p>\n

Reports indicate that there may be a workaround for accessing transfer partners: uninstall the Mesa app, reinstall it, open the app in airplane mode, wait for it to fail, turn the internet back on, and then log in normally. This workaround has yielded mixed results, with many users opting to redeem for a statement credit and forfeiting any extra points.<\/p>\n

If you have an outstanding balance, you are not required to pay it in full immediately. You can continue making minimum monthly payments until your account balance is zero. If you make any recurring payments with your Mesa Homeowners Card, be sure to update your payment method on these accounts as soon as possible.<\/p>\n

How to Find a Mesa Homeowners Card Replacement<\/span><\/h2>\n

Unfortunately, there aren't many credit cards that let you earn points on mortgages. That could be why the Mesa Homeowners Card is closing \u2014 Mesa might not have earned enough to cover the rewards it provided.<\/p>\n

The card was closely modeled after The Bilt Mastercard\u00ae<\/sup><\/a>, which is currently closed to new applicants. However, the Bilt Card 2.0<\/a> will launch on February 7, 2026<\/strong>, which is right around the corner.<\/p>\n

Bilt allows you to earn points on your monthly rent payment, and the Bilt Card 2.0 will offer the ability to earn points on your mortgage payments, regardless of your lender. Although the exact details of the new card have yet to be unveiled, we anticipate that it will be a fantastic alternative to the Mesa Homeowners Card.<\/p>\n
