In the travel industry, we're used to things falling behind schedule. Deliveries of new aircraft are delayed, a new business class product might not roll out as smoothly as expected, and mergers might be slowed by regulatory issues. However, it's always a pleasant surprise when things happen ahead of schedule.<\/p>\n

When Alaska Airlines announced Atmos Rewards<\/a>, an all-new loyalty program, it also announced it would begin rolling out fast, free Wi-Fi for members in 2026. As we approach the final few days of 2025, it appears Alaska is ahead of the curve \u2014 the first Starlink-equipped flights have already taken off.<\/p>\n

Here's what you need to know and how to access it.<\/p>\n

Alaska Airlines Launches Starlink Wi-Fi<\/span><\/h2>\n

You won't need to consult the Alaska Airlines Wi-Fi guide<\/a> for too much longer. The airline has officially launched its first passenger flights offering Starlink Wi-Fi aboard four Embraer E175 regional jets. These jets serve routes throughout much of the western U.S., so you might get a chance to try the fast, free Wi-Fi for yourself in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

This announcement comes just a couple of months after United debuted its first Starlink-enabled flight<\/a>. And it comes shortly after British Airways announced that it is the latest airline to partner with Starlink<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In terms of a timeline, Alaska should continue to retrofit the rest of the Embraer fleet, then launch Starlink on Boeing 737s in early 2026 and Boeing 787s later in the year. The entire project will be complete by 2027. However, if the airline continues to move ahead of schedule, we could see Starlink Wi-Fi on all Alaska's planes by this time next year.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, any Atmos Rewards member will be able to access Starlink Wi-Fi on an eligible flight. Signing up for the loyalty program is free. You won't need to hold elite status within the program or pay any additional fees. You'll even be able to connect on multiple devices \u2014 no more disconnecting your phone to connect on your laptop or tablet.<\/p>\n

If you aren't familiar, Starlink offers high-speed internet using Low Earth Orbit satellites. It's quickly becoming a mainstay in the aviation industry. Almost two dozen airlines have partnered with the company to provide internet to passengers.<\/p>\n

It certainly isn't surprising that Alaska adopted Starlink, as Hawaiian Airlines installed the Wi-Fi on its long-haul jets last year, just before its merger with Alaska.<\/p>\n

I'm looking forward to a day when every airline offers fast, free Wi-Fi. Until then, it's exciting that Alaska Airlines has four Starlink-enabled Embraer E175 regional jets in service, with plans for more aircraft in early 2026. Starlink might be the fastest Wi-Fi available for commercial aviation, so if you like to stream, work, or stay connected during your flight, choosing Alaska Airlines just got a whole lot more enticing.<\/p>\n
