The move is not a total victory for Uber; they are on probation and will be strictly monitored by Transport For London (TFL). Uber had initially applied for a 5-year license after making serious changes to its London operations after it\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/blog\/uber-loses-license-operate-london-september-30-2017\/\">license to operate in the city was canceled last year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img data-aspectratio=\"600\/398\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18751 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/london.jpg\" alt=\"London\" width=\"600\" height=\"398\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/london.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/london-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/london-1024x679.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Uber_Changes_In_London\">Uber Changes In London<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To convince magistrates to grant it a license, Uber has made sweeping changes across the board including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Proactive communication with the police when allegations of a criminal nature are made against their drivers<\/li>\n<li>The appointment of 3 non-executive directors to the Uber London Board, to ensure all the rules and regulations are met<\/li>\n<li>The company is set to introduce better insurance for its drivers, including injury and sickness insurance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span id=\"Our_Take\">Our Take<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Although this is a small win for Uber, they have had to eat a lot of humble pie to get it. The company had to cover the entire cost of the appeal for both parties, as well as admit in open court that it had behaved appallingly and that the initial decision to suspend its license was right.<\/p>\n<p>During the hearing, the chief magistrate blasted Uber for not being a \u201cfit and proper company.\u201d In the wake of the hearings, Uber said the changes should influence and improve its conduct and operations around the world.
