What to Know About Iberia Family Accounts<\/span><\/h2>\n
Several airlines offer the ability to pool points with members of your household<\/a>, but Iberia is joining the few airlines that allow you to pool points with just about anyone.<\/p>\n
Up to seven people can now join an Iberia Family Account and combine their Avios into one balance \u2014 all of the Avios you entered the family with, and any Avios you earn while in the Family Account, will be added to the shared family balance. Regardless of who earned the Avios, members can redeem them for flights and experiences through Iberia.<\/p>\n

Anyone can join as long as they have an active Iberia Club account. This makes it far easier than airlines that offer points pooling only for those living in the same household. Plus, you can book tickets for anyone using the shared balance \u2014 not just people in the account.<\/p>\n
Another interesting feature of the Family Accounts is that your Avios remain in your own balance, but other members of the account can access it. When you earn Avios on a flight, they are added to your personal balance. When you make a withdrawal from the shared balance, it's deducted proportionally from each member's balance.<\/p>\n
In other words, if there are six members in your family account and you book a flight for 60,000 Avios, don't expect that each member's personal balance will go down by 10,000 Avios.<\/p>\n

How to Create an Iberia Family Account<\/span><\/h2>\n
To create your Family Account, you'll need to first log in to your Iberia Club account. Next, select “My Iberia Club,” then “Family Account,” and then “Create Family Account.” You'll then be asked for a verification code before you can send invitations using your friend or family member's Iberia Club number.<\/p>\n

However, to accept the invitation, you'll need the date of birth of the person who invited you, so be sure to have it handy. The person extending the invitation becomes the main account holder and administrator, and the other people in the account are members.<\/p>\n
Note that you can be in only one Family Account at a time, and once you join, you must stay in that account for at least 12 months. If you want to leave before this, you'll have to contact the customer service center. The account owner is the only one who can add or remove members or close the account. As long as at least one member in the Family Account has reached Iberia Plata or higher, the Avios in the Family Account won't expire<\/a>.<\/p>\n
Other Ways to Earn More Avios<\/span><\/h2>\n
Outside of pooling your Avios with others via Iberia\u2019s new Family Accounts, you have several ways to earn more Avios. Building your balance can help you take advantage of Iberia\u2019s best sweet spots \u2014 or those offered by other Avios programs, since you can freely transfer Avios between partners like British Airways and Qatar Airways.<\/p>\n
