It first rolled it out domestically on transcontinental routes and instantly became one of the best ways to fly coast-to-coast. Then, when JetBlue entered the transatlantic market, it further enhanced Mint and launched Mint Studio with extra space.

Now, as JetBlue makes strategic moves to attract flyers and stay in business, the airline has unveiled fresh details about its new domestic first class product: BlueFirst. If you're confused by the name, the product was initially teased as Mini Mint until this latest release.

Here's everything we know about JetBlue's upcoming first class product, including information on the hard and soft product at launch.

JetBlue Launches BlueFirst: What We Know So Far

We’ve known a few limited details about the BlueFirst product since the summer of 2024. JetBlue will use the Collins Aerospace MiQ seat, which is already used in domestic first class cabins on many American Airlines and Delta Air Lines flights.

However, we finally have more details on what passengers can expect when booking BlueFirst, and JetBlue TrueBlue members will likely be very excited. The seats include some nice features, including:

Seat cushioning provided by Tuft & Needle, which is “designed to offer each customer personalized support and responsive pressure relief throughout the flight” and is only available on JetBlue

Five inches of recline and up to seven inches of additional legroom compared to JetBlue's Main seats

13.3-inch seatback screen with Bluetooth connectivity, including the latest Blueprint by JetBlue entertainment platform

In-seat USB-A, USB-C and 110VAC power

Complimentary Fly-Fi high-speed internet

Blanket and snooze kit on overnight flights

Without further ado, here's what the BlueFirst seat will look like:

Credit: JetBlue</enter>

This product will be available in a 2-2 configuration. There should be three rows on A220 and A320 aircraft, for a total of 12 seats. On the larger A321, there will be four rows, for a total of 16 seats.

That means it should be a fairly standard domestic first class. Delta's first class cabin on smaller planes like the Embraer ERJ-175 or CRJ-900 features four rows in a 1-2 configuration, for a total of 12 seats. However, JetBlue runs an all-Airbus fleet. For comparison's sake, Delta's A320 features 16 first class seats, so depending on pricing and demand, JetBlue BlueFirst might be a bit harder to come by.

These seats will be installed on every aircraft in JetBlue’s fleet that doesn’t already feature the airline’s Mint product. To make room for the larger seats, standard economy legroom is expected to shrink to 30 inches — a major downgrade from its current industry-best economy legroom of 32 inches. However, we won't know for sure until the product officially launches later this year.

Additional perks for BlueFirst customers

As part of the rollout, JetBlue is stepping up its complimentary in-flight dining and beverages. They include:

Group 1 boarding

Dedicated overhead bin space

Priority check-in

Access to an expedited lane to the security checkpoint at more than 30 airports

BlueFirst and BlueFirst Flex fares include perks like no change or cancel fees, two free checked bags, and priority baggage delivery. This is an important callout from JetBlue — indicating it will offer BlueFirst Basic fares that will not be changeable and won't include checked bags. JetBlue will seemingly be the latest airline to offer a basic premium ticket, following in the footsteps of Air Canada, Delta, and United. After BlueFirst Basic launches, it will probably be only a matter of time until JetBlue rolls out Mint Basic.

BlueFirst Rollout Timeline

We can now officially say that JetBlue BlueFirst will go on sale in fall 2026, and departures will take off later this year. Unfortunately, we don't know exactly when this will happen or how much this new offering will cost — either in cash or TrueBlue points.

It's clear that JetBlue believes the new premium cabin will help improve its Revenue per Available Seat Mile (RASM), one of the airline industry’s most important financial metrics. Put simply, RASM measures how much revenue an airline generates per seat for every mile flown.

The airline also believes the new cabin will help it compete more effectively in key focus cities like Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, where JetBlue also plans to open a future BlueHouse lounge once it secures enough space for the project. JetBlue recently opened a BlueHouse lounge in Boston, and it appears to be trying to shed the low-cost carrier classification and market itself as a premium airline.

Credit: JetBlue</enter>

It will also be interesting to see how upgrades will be handled for Mosaic members, or whether a refresh of JetBlue's co-branded cards is on the horizon that will bring BlueFirst perks. Down the line, we may even see reciprocal upgrades with strategic partners like United. Time will tell how this new product innovation will change JetBlue's operations and prospects.

None of JetBlue's information pages, like the checked bag policy, upgrade policy, or changes and cancellation policy, have been updated to include any information about BlueFirst. However, BlueFirst has its own dedicated page, so this may be one to watch for additional information over the next few months.

Our Take

BlueFirst will be an exciting new addition to the JetBlue experience. With a true domestic first class product flying on every plane, JetBlue can effectively compete with other mainline carriers. As the premium customer remains the most important in the sky, BlueFirst will do a better job attracting those customers and keeping them from flying another airline's first-class product.

We'll have to wait and see when BlueFirst's first flight is scheduled, how much it'll cost JetBlue customers, and when TrueBlue members can redeem their hard-earned points for the new experience.

Page Contents

JetBlue Launches BlueFirst: What We Know So Far

Additional perks for BlueFirst customers

BlueFirst Rollout Timeline

Our Take

JetBlue is set to unveil its BlueFirst domestic first class product later this year.
