As the second of five elite status tiers, you'll receive perks like 25% bonus points on stays, a 2 p.m. late checkout (as available), and space-available room upgrades. However, this perk can add up quickly, especially if you frequently book short overnight trips.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"Earn_a_free_night_award_with_a_minimum_spending_requirement\">Earn a free night award with a minimum spending requirement<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>If you spend at least $15,000 on your card in a calendar year, you'll earn a Free Night Award with a redemption level of up to 50,000 points. You can top off the certificate with up to 25,000 Marriott Bonvoy points, meaning you can book a hotel night costing up to 75k points. Just note this Free Night Award expires 12 months after issuance.<\/p>\n<p>That's a fantastic perk, but you need to keep track of your spending. I was a cardholder of the competitor Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Card for several years, and it also offers a free night award when you meet a spending requirement. However, I never tracked my spending, so I never earned the award and left a lot of value on the table.<\/p>\n<p>An easy way to ensure you'll earn your free night award is to use your Marriott Bountiful for all of your purchases at the beginning of the year until you reach the $15,000 spending requirement. Baggage delay insurance and trip delay reimbursement are two of the most valuable protections you can have on a credit card, and the Marriott Bountiful has you covered with both.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Marriott_Bountiful_Earning_Rates\">Marriott Bountiful Earning Rates<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The earning potential is where the Marriott Bountiful really shines. You'll earn:<\/p>\n<ul>\r\n<li>6X points on purchases at hotels participating in Marriott Bonvoy<\/li>\r\n<li>4X points on up to $15,000 in combined purchases per year at restaurants worldwide and at U.S. supermarkets<\/li>\r\n<li>2X points on all other eligible purchases<\/li>\r\n<\/ul> \n<p>However, the Marriott Bonvoy earning potential is better than you realize. Marriott Bonvoy members get up to 10X points per $1 at Marriott properties worldwide. As a Gold Elite member, you'll also get 2.5X bonus points on top of the 6X points you earn from spending on the card. All in, that's up to 18.5X points per $1 spent.<\/p>\n<p>That's an incredible return \u2014 book a $1,000 vacation (at a brand that earns the full 10X base rate) and earn a total of 18,500 Marriott Bonvoy points. Based on <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/point-mile-values\" rel=\"noopener\">recent AwardWallet user redemptions<\/a>, those points are worth roughly $172. That's a 17% return on your spending.<\/p>\n<p>Plus, 4X points on the first $15,000 in combined purchases annually at grocery stores and on dining is fantastic. Does $15,000 sound familiar? That's how much you need to spend on your card to earn your free night award. If groceries and dining already make up a large share of your spending, those 4X categories can help you work toward the $15,000 Free Night Award threshold without sacrificing as much earning potential.<\/p>\n<p>Marriott Bonvoy points generally expire after 24 months without qualifying activity. Making an eligible purchase with the card is one way to reset the expiration clock. You also won't pay any foreign transaction fees, so this is a great card to take abroad.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Redeeming_Points_With_the_Marriott_Bountiful\">Redeeming Points With the Marriott Bountiful<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>As a Marriott Bountiful cardholder, you'll earn Marriott Bonvoy points on your purchases, which means you're somewhat limited in how you redeem your points. Although AwardWallet users tend to redeem Marriott points for 0.93\u00a2 apiece, it's certainly possible to redeem them for two or three times that amount.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, one of our favorite <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/hotels\/marriott-bonvoy\/top-luxury-marriott-redemptions\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Marriott redemptions for luxury stays<\/a> is at The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort. On the dates we checked in July 2026, you can book an overwater villa for five nights for 602,000 points, taking full advantage of <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/hotels\/marriott-bonvoy\/marriott-5th-night-free\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Marriott's fifth night free benefit<\/a>. That same room costs roughly $15,569 for five nights, giving you a value of almost 2.6 cents per point.<\/p>\n<p>However, you might be able to do even better than that. There are some <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/hotels\/marriott-bonvoy\/best-budget-marriott-redemptions\/\" rel=\"noopener\">fantastic budget-friendly Marriott redemptions<\/a>, including the Aloft Panama, where AwardWallet users typically get 2.29 cents per point in value.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"Airline_transfers\">Airline transfers<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Marriott offers an impressive <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/hotels\/marriott-bonvoy\/marriott-airline-partners\/\" rel=\"noopener\">37 airline partners<\/a>. For the vast majority of partners, you'll transfer at a 3:1 ratio, and many partners offer a 5,000-mile bonus for every 60,000 points you transfer. Notable exceptions to this perk include American Airlines AAdvantage<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>, Avianca LifeMiles, and Delta SkyMiles. However, United MileagePlus offers an even better bonus: 10,000 bonus miles per 60,000 points transferred.<\/p>\n<p>More than likely, you'll want to avoid this redemption method if you hold the Marriott Bountiful. Transferring hotel points to airlines could be a worthwhile way to rescue hard-to-use or expiring points. However, if you're applying for a co-branded card with a $250 annual fee, you're probably somewhat loyal to the brand and will be able to redeem your points for hotel stays.<\/p>\n<p>Even with a bonus, the transfer ratios when converting Bonvoy points to airline miles are subpar.\u00a0Plus, most of these airline partners are accessible through other transferable point currencies at far better
