On the heels of major airlines launching basic premium fare classes \u2014 including Air Canada introducing Business Basic<\/a> and Delta adding $500 change fees on Basic Business<\/a> \u2014 Allegiant is stepping up its game.<\/p>\n

Allegiant has just announced<\/a> that it will soon add a complimentary beverage service on all Allegiant flights and introduce an all-new Allegiant First cabin in the spring of 2027. Here's what we know so far, including when you can book your first-class flight.<\/p>\n

Allegiant Launches In-Flight Beverage Service<\/span><\/h2>\n

Starting August 1, 2026, you'll be able to enjoy in-flight beverage service on all Allegiant flights. Free beverages include sodas, juice, and water. For a low-cost carrier, this is a major improvement. Some of Allegiant's routes can reach five or more hours, and having to pay $4 for a bit of water or a soda is annoying.<\/p>\n

If you have the Allways Rewards Visa\u00ae<\/sup> Credit Card<\/strong>, you can enjoy additional beverage options — including items from the elevated beverages menu, such as coffee, protein shakes, Powerade, or an alcoholic beverage.<\/p>\n

Cardholders are limited to one free beverage per flight, up to $16 of value. Fortunately, almost all alcoholic beverages on board fall under this threshold, save for Don Julio Tequila and select wines.<\/p>\n

Being able to drink a cold brew or a margarita on your next flight might not be reason enough to sign up for a new credit card, but it's great when existing cardholders get additional meaningful benefits.<\/p>\n

Allegiant First Coming Spring 2027<\/span><\/h2>\n

Another huge announcement is the debut of Allegiant First. It will be phased in on select aircraft in 2027. Allegiant First will consist of eight seats in a two-by-two configuration at the front of the aircraft, offering a five-inch recline, calf rests, adjustable headrests, more legroom, and a 37-inch pitch.<\/p>\n

Allegiant First will complement Allegiant Extra, which offers extra legroom and guaranteed overhead bin space. Every seat will offer USB Type-A and Type-C ports, plus a 120V power outlet so you can stay connected during your journey.<\/p>\n

To put that into context, the pitch in first class on Delta's A319 is between 35 and 37 inches and doesn't offer a calf rest, so Allegiant appears to be offering a very similar (or even slightly improved) product as the major U.S. airlines.<\/p>\n

Passengers will also receive enhanced amenities and upgraded service elements, including complimentary drinks and snacks, for anyone seeking a more premium travel option. You'll receive priority check-in and boarding, and the fare will include one personal item, one carry-on bag, and one checked bag up to 70 pounds.<\/p>\n

Allegiant also notes “enhanced refundability to your original form of payment,” though we don't know exactly what that'll look like just yet.<\/p>\n

Allegiant First debut timeline and routes<\/span><\/h3>\n

Allegiant says seats should go on sale in mid-August for spring 2027 departures. The first routes to get the service will be to and from Ft. Myers\/Punta Gorda (PGD). While we don't know exactly which routes will offer Allegiant First (or when), below is a screenshot of Allegiant's routes to\/from PGD.<\/p>\n

Will Allegiant First be worth it?<\/span><\/h3>\n

It's hard to say if Allegiant First will be worth it without seeing a price tag. Allegiant offers very competitive fares, but if it's attempting to offer a premium product, it's safe to assume it'll come with a premium cost. However, a free carry-on and checked bag up to 70 pounds can save you a ton of money.<\/p>\n

For instance, on a flight from Punta Gorda (PGD) to Chicago (MDW), you'd pay $70 for a standard checked bag if you added it after booking, and another $50 if your bag weighs between 51 and 70 pounds. All in, you could be paying $120 for your checked bag and another $70 for your carry-on if you forget to add it during booking. Depending on the cost of Allegiant First, booking a more comfortable seat with better perks might be worth the upcharge.<\/p>\n

Bottom Line<\/span><\/h2>\n

It's always exciting when an airline surprises us in a good way. All too often, airlines try to sell us worse experiences for more money, but now loyal Allegiant flyers will have a new and improved fare class to choose from when booking their next flight. And regardless of the cabin, you can now stay hydrated for free throughout your travels.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, we don't have much information on the Allegiant First rollout, but Allegiant is expected to share more on its aircraft deployment plans, routes, and onboard features later this year. When it does, we will be sure to update this post with more information.<\/p>\n
