The Oneworld alliance is one of three major alliances<\/a> in the aviation world; the others are Star Alliance and SkyTeam. The alliance currently has fifteen member airlines (plus Philippine Airlines<\/a> joining in 2027). Here are the current members:<\/p>\n When you earn elite status with a Oneworld member airline, you'll also receive the corresponding Oneworld status. We elaborate on earning in the section below, but there are three Oneworld elite tiers:<\/p>\n Each level of status offers increasingly rewarding benefits — like complimentary checked bags, priority check-in, and even lounge access at higher tiers.<\/p>\n For example, if you're an American Airlines flyer, you'll earn Oneworld Ruby when you earn AAdvantage Gold status, Oneworld Sapphire when you earn AAdvantage Platinum status, and Emerald when you earn either Platinum Pro or Executive Platinum status.<\/p>\n Oneworld Emerald status benefits can be quite rewarding. From lounge access, priority check-in, complimentary bags, and more, here are all the benefits for Emeralds.<\/p>\n Oneworld Emerald offers access to first-class lounges, where available. It also grants you access to business-class lounges and Oneworld-branded lounges.<\/p>\n Emerald members can also bring one guest, provided they're traveling on an eligible Oneworld flight.<\/p>\n These include some of my favorite lounges in the world, such as Cathay Pacific's The Pier in Hong Kong (HKG) and Japan Airlines' First Class Lounge in Tokyo (HND). You can generally expect better food, drinks, and service than you'd find in a typical airport lounge.<\/p>\n There are some important exceptions, particularly for AAdvantage and Atmos Rewards elites traveling within North America. And some of Oneworld's most exclusive lounges — such as the Chelsea Lounge at New York (JFK)<\/a>, British Airways Concorde Room at London Heathrow (LHR), and Qatar Airways' Al Safwa First Lounge in Doha (DOH)<\/a> — aren't accessible through Emerald status alone.<\/p>\n For the full list of eligible lounges, exclusions, and access rules, check out our guide to Oneworld lounge access<\/a>.<\/p>\n Oneworld Emeralds can use first-class check-in at airports. This can be a great perk when the economy- or business-class check-in lines are long. However, in my experience, you'll likely be in a general elite line when traveling through an airport without dedicated first-class service.<\/p>\n At many international airports, fast-track security is available for Oneworld Emeralds, including a dedicated priority line. This can be a huge timesaver, as TSA Pre-Check<\/a> and CLEAR<\/a> benefits don't extend abroad. Make sure to confirm the best security line for you with the check-in desk before you jump in the wrong line.<\/p>\n Emeralds receive access to preferred or pre-reserved seating on Oneworld airlines. On some airlines, Emerald seating perks might be better than Sapphire, like extra legroom seats at booking. In my experience, the best perk has been pre-selecting seats on British Airways, which charges an additional fee otherwise, even in business class.<\/p>\n With Oneworld Emerald status, you'll enjoy additional complimentary baggage. On airlines that use a piece-based system, you'll generally receive one additional checked bag when your ticket already includes at least one bag. On airlines that use a weight-based system, you'll receive an additional 20 kg (44 pounds). Check your airline's baggage policy before heading to the airport.<\/p>\n When you check your bags as an Oneworld Emerald, you'll receive priority baggage handling. Typically, this means your checked bags will receive a priority tag. In practice, I've found that international airlines are great about delivering priority bags first. Domestic airlines? Not so much.<\/p>\n Oneworld Emeralds receive priority boarding on Oneworld flights. Each airline handles Oneworld status differently, but you'll generally board with or shortly after first class as an Emerald.<\/p>\n When you need to stand by on a different flight, Oneworld Emeralds are near the top of the standby list. This can be a helpful perk when a better flight is available or when delays, cancellations, or other disruptions have changed your trip.<\/p>\n You'll be able to earn Oneworld Emerald status by flying or transacting with one of Oneworld's member programs.
