Chase just announced a few targeted updates that give cardholders more value than ever. Let's take a look at the changes.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Improvements_to_the_Freedom_Flex\">Improvements to the Freedom Flex<\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span id=\"No_foreign_transaction_fees\">No foreign transaction fees<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>As we first <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/news\/credit-cards\/chase-freedom-flex-removing-foreign-transaction-fees\/\" rel=\"noopener\">reported back in July<\/a>, you can now use your Freedom Flex abroad without paying a foreign transaction fee. This is a fantastic update, as cardholders previously paid 3% of each transaction in U.S. dollars. If you're spending a few weeks abroad, paying 3% in fees on every single transaction can quickly add up.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"New_Chase_Points_Boost\">New Chase Points Boost<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Additionally, all Chase Freedom cardmembers can access <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/credit-cards\/chase-ultimate-rewards\/points-boost\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Points Boost<\/a> when redeeming points on select hotel bookings through <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/credit-cards\/chase-ultimate-rewards\/chase-travel-portal\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Chase Travel\u2120<\/a>, making your <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/credit-cards\/chase-ultimate-rewards\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Chase Ultimate Rewards points<\/a> worth up to 10% more. Without Points Boost, 100 points earned on your Freedom cards are worth $1 when redeemed through the travel portal. Normally, cash back categories for the following quarter are announced on the 15th of the last month of the previous quarter. For instance, Chase just announced the Q4 2026 categories on September 15, 2026. However, we can already preview Q1 2027 cash back categories.<\/p>\n<p>Q1 2027 quarterly cash back categories will include top <strong>streaming services<\/strong> and <strong>grocery stores<\/strong> (excluding Walmart and Target). This is also the first time that grocery stores will be featured in consecutive quarters. That means you can earn 5% cash back on grocery store purchases from October 1, 2026, through March 31, 2027, up to the quarterly maximums.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Bottom_Line\">Bottom Line<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>These updates might seem minor, but they are fairly revolutionary for <a data-ccid=\"4048224\" href=\"\/blog\/link\/ChaseFreedomFlex\" target=_blank rel=\"noopener nofollow sponsored\">Freedom Flex<\/a> cardholders. The opportunity to earn 5% on rotating bonus categories (up to $1,500 per quarter), 5% on travel purchased through Chase, 3% on dining at restaurants and drugstore purchases and 1% on other eligible purchases \u2014 including purchases made abroad \u2014 is fantastic.<\/p>\n<p>Plus, the points you earn from your spending can now be worth up to 10% more through Points Boost.
