Beginning <strong>January 24, 2027<\/strong>, <a data-ccid=\"3004018\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/credit-cards\/american-aadvantage\/citi-aadvantage-platinum-select\/\">Citi<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> \/ AAdvantage<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Platinum Select<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> World Elite Mastercard<sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/a> and <a data-ccid=\"3004019\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/credit-cards\/american-aadvantage\/american-airlines-business-credit-card\/\">Citi<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> \/ AAdvantage Business\u2122 World Elite Mastercard<sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/a> holders will have access to new or enhanced benefits, but these come at a cost. Both cards will have an increased annual fee of $150 &#8212; up from the current $99 annual fee.<\/p>\n<p>Here's what to know about this refresh.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"AA_Platinum_Select_Refresh_Details\">AA Platinum Select Refresh Details<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The new <a data-ccid=\"3004018\" href=\"\/blog\/link\/CR-CitiAAdvantagePlatinumSelectWorldEliteMasterCard\" rel=\"noopener nofollow sponsored\">AA Platinum Select<\/a> will offer a variety of new and enhanced benefits.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"Earning_potential\">Earning potential<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>To start, the AA Platinum Select&#8216;s earning potential is getting a lot better:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>New:<\/strong> 3X AAdvantage miles on eligible <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/airlines\/american-aadvantage\/aa-hotels\/\" rel=\"noopener\">AAdvantage Hotels<\/a> bookings made on aadvantagehotels.com and eligible AAdvantage Cars bookings made on aadvantagecars.com.<\/li>\n<li><strong>New: <\/strong>2X AAdvantage miles on select streaming services.<\/li>\n<li><strong>New: <\/strong>2X AAdvantage miles on eligible Rides and Rails\u2122 purchases.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Enhanced:<\/strong> 2X AAdvantage miles at gas stations, now expanded to include EV charging stations.<\/li>\n<li>2X AAdvantage miles on eligible American Airlines purchases.<\/li>\n<li>2X AAdvantage miles at restaurants.<\/li>\n<li>1X AAdvantage miles on all other purchases.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The opportunity to earn bonus miles on AAdvantage Hotels and AAdvantage Cars, streaming services, Ride and Rails (including eligible taxis, rideshare, and public transit purchases), and EV charging stations makes this card a lot more rewarding.<\/p>\n<p>You'll still earn 1 <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/airlines\/american-aadvantage\/loyalty-points\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Loyalty Point<\/a> for every 1 eligible AAdvantage mile earned from purchases.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"New_and_enhanced_benefits\">New and enhanced benefits<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Cardholders can now enjoy a variety of new credits and benefits, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Enhanced: <\/strong>Earn a $150 <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/credit-cards\/american-aadvantage\/aadvantage-flight-discount\/\" rel=\"noopener\">American Airlines Flight Discount<\/a> after spending $20,000 or more in purchases during your cardmember year and renewing your card (up from a $125 discount).<\/li>\n<li><strong>New: <\/strong>Up to $120 <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/airlines\/expedited-airport-security-programs\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee credit<\/a> every four years.<\/li>\n<li><strong>New: <\/strong>Up to $100 back in statement credits annually on in-flight purchases.<\/li>\n<li><strong>New: <\/strong>Complimentary annual Walmart+ membership for primary cardmembers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>New: <\/strong>50% discount on an annual FOX One subscription.<\/li>\n<li><strong>New: <\/strong>Travel protections, including Trip Delay Protection, Trip Cancellation & Interruption Protection, Worldwide Car Rental Insurance, and Lost Baggage Protection<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you don't spend $20,000 on your card each year, an extra $25 in flight discounts isn't a huge deal. While the annual fee is slightly higher, the new perks can outweigh the extra cost. Both cards offer better earning potential and new or improved benefits. And unlike many card refreshes, Citi didn't remove any perks to make room for new benefits.<\/p>\n<p>However, not all cardholders will be able to realize the extra value on these cards.
