The rebate applies to all redemptions, including partner awards.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Cards_Affected_by_the_Change\">Cards Affected by the Change<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The following cards will no longer receive a 10% rebate on redeemed miles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>AAdvantage<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Aviator<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Red World Elite Mastercard<sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/li>\n<li><a data-ccid=\"53\" href=\"\/blog\/link\/AAdvantageAviatorSilverMasterCard\" rel=\"noopener nofollow sponsored\">AAdvantage<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Aviator<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Silver Mastercard<sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a data-ccid=\"3004054\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/credit-cards\/american-aadvantage\/citi-aadvantage-executive\/\">Citi<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> \/ AAdvantage<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Executive World Elite Mastercard<sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a data-ccid=\"3004018\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/credit-cards\/american-aadvantage\/citi-aadvantage-platinum-select\/\">Citi<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> \/ AAdvantage<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Platinum Select<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> World Elite Mastercard<sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span id=\"Should_I_Close_My_Account\">Should I Close My Account?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you have the <a data-ccid=\"3004018\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/credit-cards\/american-aadvantage\/citi-aadvantage-platinum-select\/\">AA Platinum Select<\/a>, you should be aware of Citi's rules to determine eligibility for a welcome bonus on a new account. If you close your <a data-ccid=\"3004018\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/credit-cards\/american-aadvantage\/citi-aadvantage-platinum-select\/\">AA Platinum Select<\/a> card because of this devaluation, you won't be able to earn a signup bonus on the same card for four years from the date you last received the bonus on this card.<\/p>\n<p>However, as long as it has been more than 48 months since you received a bonus on the <a data-ccid=\"3004018\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/credit-cards\/american-aadvantage\/citi-aadvantage-platinum-select\/\">AA Platinum Select<\/a>, you should qualify for a new bonus on this co-brand card right now. Barclays doesn't have a similar rule, so if you decide it isn't worth keeping your Aviator Red or Aviator Silver, there shouldn't be an adverse effect on your eligibility for other cards unless the rules change.<\/p>\n<p>You can learn more by checking out our <a href=\"\/credit-cards\/rewards-card-application-rules\/\">complete guide to credit card application rules<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"Our_Take\">Our Take<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The move is disappointing and represents a big hit to the value of holding any of the affected cards.\u00a0Each of these cards will still offer a free checked bag for you and up to four companions traveling with you on the same <em>U.S.\u00a0<\/em><em>domestic<\/em> itinerary. The cards also offer priority boarding with group five, which is the first group to board after AAdvantage<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> elites and those who purchased Priority boarding. For some, these perks may be enough to hang on to the card.
