For example, Avianca LifeMiles and Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles can both book Lufthansa business class to Europe. With the former, you'll pay 69,000 miles one-way (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/airlines\/avianca-lifemiles\/avianca-lifemiles-sweet-spots\/\" rel=\"noopener\">or potentially less<\/a>). Turkish, meanwhile, charges a slightly cheaper 65,000 miles for this ticket.<\/p>\n<p>However, Miles & Smiles passes along award taxes, fees, and carrier surcharges. For a Lufthansa business-class award, this amounts to hundreds of dollars. Avianca LifeMiles doesn't pass these along. That said, this also gives up some flexibility, as LifeMiles has some of the worst <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/airlines\/award-ticket-change-and-cancellation-policies\/\" rel=\"noopener\">award change and cancellation fees<\/a>\u00a0in the industry.<\/p>\n<p>Learning the ins and outs of the Citi travel partners can help you stretch your points (and dollars) farther. And unlike Amex Membership Rewards, which transfer to Aeromexico Rewards at a rate of 1,000 to 1,600, ThankYou Points transfer at a flat rate of 1:1, making this a poor transfer option for your Citi points. You may have even stayed at an Accor hotel and not realized it. Accor doesn't use dynamic pricing for award redemptions. Instead, you spend 1,000 points for a 20 euro discount on your stay. To book a night at a hotel that costs 100 euro, you'll need to use 5,000 points.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, Citi points transfer to ALL at a 2:1 ratio. This means the 100 euro redemption would cost 10,000 ThankYou Points. At the current exchange rates, this is a bit over 1 cent per ThankYou Point. You can do much better than this with other partners, but at least it's an option.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"Etihad_Guest\"><strong>Etihad Guest<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>There aren't a ton of great ways to redeem Etihad miles after a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/airlines\/book-american-flights-etihad-miles\/\" rel=\"noopener\">major devaluation to the award chart in 2023<\/a>, and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/news\/airlines\/etihad-guest-changes-2024\/\" rel=\"noopener\">another just a year later<\/a>. You'll pay through the nose for business or first class flights from the U.S. to Abu Dhabi. A first class ticket from New York (JFK) to Abu Dhabi (AUH) would run 160,000 Etihad miles each way. You can use the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.etihad.com\/en\/etihadguest\/miles-calculator\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">miles calculator<\/a> to determine how many miles you'll need for your trip, but in general, you'll find better options through other Citi partners.<\/p>\n<p>But we should note that its change and cancellation policies <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/airlines\/etihad-guest-refund-policy\/\" rel=\"noopener\">aren't the least bit traveler friendly<\/a>. Points transfer at a 1:10 ratio, but 1,000 SYWR points are only worth $1.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, points transferred to Shop Your Way are worth 1 cent each toward Sears and Kmart merchandise.
