This could also pair nicely with <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/news\/choice-privileges\/sweet-spot-rewards\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Choice Sweet Spot Rewards<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>With that in mind, here are the two main situations where buying Choice points could be worthwhile:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>When buying points is cheaper than paying cash.<\/strong> Compare the hotel\u2019s nightly cash rate to the points rate. Multiply the number of points required by 0.76\u00a2 each (the cheapest effective cost of points during a 35% bonus promotion). If the result is lower than the cash price, you\u2019ll save money by buying points and redeeming them.<\/li>\n<li><strong>When you need to top off your account for a specific redemption.<\/strong> Even if you\u2019re only short a few thousand points, topping off your balance can be cheaper than paying cash for one or more nights.
