Initially, Southwest would switch between a bonus and a discount, but lately, it's stuck to just offering a discount &#8212; this time for up to 45%.<\/p>\n<p>The best rate we've seen from Southwest is 1.5\u00a2 per point, so the current promotion doesn't match the best we've seen from the airline. However, with a new promotion coming out roughly once every month or so (and sometimes more often than that), you might be better off waiting to buy Southwest points when you need
