If you have AAdvantage elite status, you'll receive your mileage bonus on top of the 2 miles per dollar. In turn, a top-tier Executive Platinum member would earn just 4.4 miles per dollar on basic economy tickets. That's less than a general AAdvantage member who avoided basic economy!<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"American_partner_flights\">American partner flights<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>American has carrier-specific earning rates determining the miles earned per flight for flights marketed by Oneworld and non-alliance partners. These <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aa.com\/i18n\/aadvantage-program\/miles\/partners\/partner-airlines.jsp\" rel=\"noopener\">rates differ for each airline<\/a> and depend on one of two things: how far you fly and the fare class you booked <strong>OR<\/strong> how much you spent on your ticket &#8212; depending on the airline.<\/p>\n<p>Note that these charts only apply if you book a flight with a partner's flight number. If you credit the flight to AAdvantage, you'll earn 250% of 6,772 miles flown, for 16,930 miles and Loyalty Points.<\/p>\n<p>If you have elite status, remember that your elite bonus only applies to the base earning rate of 100%. It does not apply to cabin bonuses. In turn, this means you could earn as much as 25,056 Loyalty Points if you're an Executive Platinum member flying J, C, D, or I-fare business class from New York to Tokyo on Japan Airlines.<\/p>\n<p>Watch out, as not every partner earns Loyalty Points, so be careful which partners you book before counting on specific earnings. You can earn American miles when booking hotels, rental cars, and cruises.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"Book_your_hotel_through_AAdvantage_Hotels\">Book your hotel through AAdvantage Hotels<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Hotel stays can be a good way to supplement your American Airlines miles and boost your Loyalty Point-earning capabilities. However, you may have to sacrifice elite status benefits or points you could have enjoyed by booking directly with the hotel. You typically have to book directly with the hotel group to receive these benefits.<\/p>\n<p>American offers a hotel booking service powered by Rocket Travel called <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/airlines\/american-aadvantage\/aa-hotels\/\" rel=\"noopener\">AAdvantage<\/a><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bookaahotels.com\/index.html?=&aid=366304&label=aa-aadvantage-featuredhotel&lang=en-us&selected_currency=USD\" rel=\"noopener\"> Hotels<\/a>. If you're earning a ton of AAdvantage miles from a stay, this might not matter. However, if you are not interested in earning a hotel's points, you can earn American Airlines miles and Loyalty Points instead \u2014 at a 1:1 ratio of 1 mile and Loyalty Point per $1 spent.<\/p>\n<p>With any of AA's hotel partners, you'll want to select &#8220;Earn Miles&#8221; as your preference in your hotel account and select American Airlines. Marriott, IHG, Choice, and Best Western are eligible &#8220;merchants&#8221; on AA's shopping portal, which means you can earn extra AAdvantage miles and Loyalty Points on your hotel bookings made through the portal.
