IHG is one of Chase\u2019s least valuable transfer partners. Even with this elevated bonus, you're likely better off using your Ultimate Rewards elsewhere. But all points don't have the same value. While AwardWallet users have redeemed Chase Ultimate Rewards points for an average of 2.01\u00a2 per point, AwardWallet users have only been able to <a href=\"\/point-mile-values\/ihg\">redeem IHG points for 0.68\u00a2 per point<\/a> in recent redemptions.<\/p>\n<p>Consequently, if you were to transfer Ultimate Rewards points to IHG, you'd effectively cut the value of your points by almost two-thirds. This makes transfers to IHG a poor value in most scenarios.<\/p>\n<p>A 70% bonus doesn't do much to close the gap. Boosting IHG's 0.68\u00a2 value by 70% still only translates into just 1.2\u00a2 per point. And that's okay. But that still doesn't necessarily make this transfer bonus a good deal.<\/p>\n<p>Personal valuations aside, Ultimate Rewards cardholders can achieve up to 2\u00a2 per point through the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/credit-cards\/chase-ultimate-rewards\/chase-travel-portal\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Chase Travel Portal<\/a>. Additionally, Sapphire cardholders can get the same value by using Ultimate Rewards points to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/credit-cards\/chase-ultimate-rewards\/chase-pay-yourself-back\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Pay Yourself Back<\/a>. This means you're generally better off using your points in one of these ways instead of transferring to IHG.<\/p>\n<p>In short, the redemption rate needed to make it more appealing to transfer points rather than book through Chase Travel depends on your card.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"Walking_through_an_example\">Walking through an example<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Let's use a booking at the Intercontinental Danang Sun Peninsula \u2014 one of our favorite <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/hotels\/ihg-one-rewards\/best-luxury-ihg-redemptions\/\" rel=\"noopener\">IHG luxury redemptions<\/a> \u2014 to demonstrate this point.<\/p>\n<p>For a two-night award stay in December 2026, the award price for a base room can be just 81k IHG points per night &#8212; a solid points deal for this property. Even solid points redemptions may not outperform the value you\u2019d get by booking through the Chase Travel Portal \u2014 especially if you hold the <a data-ccid=\"4048084\" href=\"https:\/\/awardwallet.com\/credit-cards\/chase-ultimate-rewards\/sapphire-reserve\/\">Sapphire Reserve<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>What's a better alternative to building your stash of IHG points? You\u2019re far better off picking up a co-branded <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"\/credit-cards\/ihg-one-rewards\/ihg-credit-cards\/\" rel=\"noopener\">IHG credit card<\/a> with a big welcome bonus
