After three years from the initial announcement, Oman Air finally joined the Oneworld Alliance on June 30, 2025. Now that Oman Air is officially the fifteenth member airline, you can now earn Sindbad miles on Oneworld flights as well as partner miles on Oman Air flights, enjoy expanded redemption opportunities, and fly to a few unique destinations not served by other Oneworld carriers.<\/p>\n

Here's what to know about this exciting update.<\/p>\n

Oman Air Becomes the 15th Oneworld Alliance Member<\/span><\/h2>\n

The Oneworld alliance has steadily expanded in recent years. Royal Air Maroc joined in 2020<\/a>, followed by Alaska Airlines in 2021<\/a> and Fiji Airways in March 2025<\/a>. And on June 30, 2025, Oman Air became the 15th member of the Oneworld alliance. It's the third Middle Eastern member airline, alongside Qatar Airways and Royal Jordanian.<\/p>\n

Oman Air already serves Oneworld airline hubs of Amman (Royal Jordanian), Doha (Qatar Airways), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia Airlines), and London Heathrow (British Airways). Additionally, the airline has existing codeshare agreements with Malaysia Airlines, Qatar Airways, Royal Jordanian, and SriLankan Airlines. So, it makes sense for the Muscat-based airline to join the Oneworld alliance.<\/p>\n

Oman Air operates a fleet of more than 30 aircraft, including Boeing 737s, 787s, and Airbus A330s. While it's not ranked among the world\u2019s top airlines, it consistently receives positive passenger reviews. Though smaller than many international carriers, Oman Air is known for its quality service and distinctive Omani flair.<\/p>\n

At the time of writing, its route network stretches from the U.K. in the west to the Philippines in the east.<\/p>\n

Oman joining the Oneworld alliance timeline<\/span><\/h3>\n

Oman first announced its plans to join the Oneworld Alliance in June 2022, with Qatar Airways sponsoring Oman Air's joining. Initially, the integration was scheduled to be completed by 2024.<\/p>\n

On June 3, 2024, at the IATA conference in Dubai, Oneworld CEO Nathaniel Pieper indicated that Oman Air should become a full member by the end of 2024. Then, on July 10, at Routes World 2024, Oman Air's CEO reportedly announced<\/a> that the airline's timeline to join the Oneworld alliance had been pushed back\u00a0to 2025.<\/p>\n

Finally, on November 11, 2024, Executive Traveller reported <\/a>that the join date was slated for June 30, 2025. Oman Air has since met that adjusted target, officially becoming the 15th member airline on June 30, 2025.<\/p>\n

However, travelers didn't have to wait until June 30 to take advantage of Oman Air\u2019s Oneworld membership. Both Alaska Airlines<\/a> and Qantas<\/a> have long allowed you to redeem miles for Oman Air flights. And more carriers will likely follow suit soon now that the membership is official.<\/p>\n

Benefits of Oman Air joining Oneworld<\/span><\/h3>\n

Oman Air\u2019s entry into Oneworld will bring about familiar benefits. Members of the Sindbad frequent flyer program will be able to earn and redeem miles on Oneworld alliance flights. Likewise, members of other Oneworld programs will earn and redeem miles on Oman Air.<\/p>\n

Carriers like American Airlines already have partner pages showing how many miles you can earn<\/a> on Oman Air flights credited to AAdvantage, along with the benefits you\u2019ll receive.<\/p>\n

In addition, Oneworld elites will enjoy perks such as priority check-in, priority boarding, and increased baggage allowance. Oneworld Emerald, Oneworld Sapphire, and premium cabin travelers will also have access to the three Oman Air lounges in Muscat, Salalah, and Bangkok.<\/p>\n

However, Oman Air currently does not offer an elite tier equivalent to Oneworld Emerald. The Sindbad program offers Gold and Silver statuses, which equate to Oneworld Sapphire and Ruby, respectively.<\/p>\n

The value of Oman Air joining the Oneworld alliance will depend on your travel needs and preferences. If Qatar Airways and Royal Jordanian already serve the routes you use through the Middle East, this addition may not make a big difference. But if you enjoy flying with Oman Air, the added benefits and improved connections available through Oneworld carriers could enhance your travel experience.<\/p>\n

Yet, Oman Air's inclusion as the 15th airline in the Oneworld alliance still comes with several benefits. And we're happy that the saga has finally ended; Oman Air is officially a member of the Oneworld alliance.<\/p>\n
