At 3:12 pm Atlantic Standard Time on December 17, 2023, American Airlines flight #1427 landed at Argyle International Airport (SVD) in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. But, this wasn't just an ordinary flight to a lovely southern Caribbean country. This flight carried AwardWallet Senior Editor Ryan Smith to his 197th country. This makes Ryan one of the few travelers who's visited every country in the world!

Ryan's wife, mother, and father joined him on this journey to his final country. AwardWallet's Editor-in-Chief JT Genter met the travelers in the Saint Vincent airport arrivals area.

American Airlines marked the occasion with a sendoff from Miami's International Airport:

Although the number of countries in the world varies by organization, Ryan's 197 visited countries include all 193 member states of the United Nations, plus the Vatican, Kosovo, Taiwan, and Palestine. Before visiting Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ryan's final few countries included Dominica, Nauru, and Turkmenistan.

Now that he's visited every country, Ryan is looking forward to traveling a bit slower, revisiting some favorites with his wife Carol. You can follow along with Ryan's travels on his Twitter page.

Stay tuned for more about Ryan's journey and how he used points and miles to achieve this monumental goal. But, for now, we're off to celebrate. Congratulations to Ryan Smith on this extraordinary accomplishment!
