Iberia is making earning status in the Iberia Plus program more rewarding. En route to Plata, Oro, Platino, or Infinita status, members will earn Iberia Plus Bonuses — the airline's rendition of milestone rewards. Iberia Plus Rolls Out Bonus Milestone Rewards
If Iberia Plus is your frequent flyer program of choice, a newly announced perk will make qualifying flight activity between elite status tiers more lucrative. Dubbed “Iberia Plus Bonus,” the Spanish carrier offers bonus Avios, vouchers, and the gift of Plus Oro status after you hit thresholds of Elite Points.
Elite Points are the Iberia Plus status-earning metric. You'll earn Elite Points on Iberia flights and with Oneworld airlines, Vueling, LEVEL, Binter, and more. Depending on the airline you fly and other factors like class of travel and flight distance, you can earn anywhere between five and 700 Elite Points on a given flight.
As you rack up Elite Points, you'll automatically earn Iberia Plus Bonus rewards — up to seven in total. Here's the breakdown of the Iberia Plus Bonus tiers and the rewards you'll get:
- 350 Elite Points: 20 Euro voucher for additional bags, seat selection, upgrades, or priority boarding.
- 700 Elite Points: 1,500 bonus Avios (worth ~$52 based on the 3.03¢ value AwardWallet users typically redeem Avios for).
- 1,675 Elite Points: 3,500 bonus Avios (worth ~$121).
- 3,500 Elite Points: 4,000 bonus Avios (worth ~$139).
- 5,000 Elite Points: 5,000 bonus Avios (worth ~$174).
- 8,000 Elite Points: 10,000 bonus Avios (worth ~$348).
- 10,000 Elite Points: Gift Iberia Plus Oro status to someone else.
To be clear, it's not worth shifting your loyalty to Iberia Plus just to earn milestone rewards. While there's something to be said about a complimentary gift of status or bonus Avios, Plus Bonuses are simply rewards that exist to incentivize you to keep crediting flights to the program — or, if you're looking for a new airline of choice, to show that Iberia values your loyalty more than its competition. After all, few airlines offer their own flavors of milestone rewards.
