Offers for the Choice Privileges®
If you've ever booked a cash stay with Choice Hotels, you might have noticed the option to boost your point earnings via a Choice Privileges Point Accelerator Package. But does it make sense to boost points on a Choice Hotels stay? And what exactly is a point accelerator package?
We'll crunch the numbers and explain this feature below.
What Is a Choice Privileges Point Accelerator Package?

Note that this is a nightly points boost, so a three-night stay booked under a 5,000-point accelerator package would earn 15,000 bonus points — in addition to the regular Choice Privileges point earnings from the stay. The accelerator is per room and available for up to two rooms.
Choice lists out the parameters for the point accelerator packages in its terms and conditions:
“Members booking the 1,000 Points Package (PKPR1 rate plan) will pay BAR (best available) rate plus $6.50 for each room each night of the stay and will receive 1,000 points for each room each night. Members booking the 2,000 Points Package (PKPR2 rate plan) will pay BAR (best available) rate plus $13 for each room each night of the stay and will receive 2,000 points for each room each night. Members booking the 5,000 Points Package (PKPR3 rate plan) will pay BAR (best available) rate plus $32.50 for each room each night of the stay and will receive 5,000 points for each room each night. Points will be deposited into your account approximately 72 hours after checkout.”
In other words, you can purchase points through an accelerator package for 0.65¢ apiece.
Does It Make Sense To Book a Point Accelerator Package?
The point accelerator package can definitely be advantageous for anyone who needs some extra Choice Privileges points. You're essentially buying points for 0.65¢ apiece.
Meanwhile, you'll pay 1.28¢ per point to buy Choice Privileges points without any bonus or discount through Points.com. The lowest rate we've seen this year was a limited-time, targeted offer for just 0.57¢ apiece in July 2026.
Point accelerator packages are widely available and don't vary in value as buy points promotions do. Predictability can be helpful when analyzing an offer.
Keep in mind that AwardWallet users have recently redeemed Choice Privileges points for 1.22¢ apiece, which makes the point accelerator package look like a slam dunk.
However, the actual cost of a Choice Privileges point accelerator package is slightly different because the best available rate is often more expensive than the lower-priced pay now and/or nonrefundable rate.
For example, let's look at a one-night stay in November at Cambria Bloomington Mall of America Minneapolis Airport in Bloomington. The pay now rate, inclusive of taxes and fees, is $105.63 for a room with two queen beds.
However, the 5,000-point accelerator package costs considerably more, coming in at $169.98. That works out to an additional $64.35 for 5,000 Choice Privileges points. Why? Because you're booking a refundable rate. You have free cancellation up to the day before arrival, whereas the most affordable rate is non-refundable.
If you typically book non-refundable hotel stays, it might not be worth the surcharge to book a points accelerator package that requires a more expensive flexible rate. But if you already book flexible rates, paying a little bit more to earn a few thousand extra points per night is a no-brainer.

Bottom Line
Depending on which room category you typically book, buying a Choice Privileges accelerator package can make a lot of sense. That said, we don't recommend buying points speculatively.
If you're buying points just for the sake of buying points, it's probably worth skipping. But if you're a few points short of a redemption and can't make a transfer to Choice Privileges, then the point accelerator is a cost-effective method to boost points you'll earn on a cash stay.
