United just launched the “It's the Summer of You” promotion for targeted United credit card holders. Eligible travelers can earn up to 15,000 bonus miles after hitting a spending threshold between May 1 and August 31, 2026.
Here are the details and how to activate your offer — if you were targeted.
United Launches New Card Spending Offers Through August 2026
Travelers with a United credit card should check what Chase co-branded spending offers they have. Offers are tailored for each cardholder, offering a set number of bonus MileagePlus miles after reaching a spending target on their United card.
Targeted cardholders must register by July 31, 2026. Once registered, all purchases that post to the card between May 1 and August 31, 2026 — including retroactive purchases before registering — count toward the spending requirement. Once again, cardholders have four months to reach the spending threshold, unlike other recent offers that only gave three months.
Only purchases that post to the eligible card by August 31, 2026, are eligible. As such, last-minute purchases might not reflect on the statement in time.
This is a targeted offer and, for the first time, my card wasn't targeted. However, we have examples of offers that other cardholders received this quarter, including some promotions that award both bonus miles and PQPs. What's also unique this time is that the promotions offer two levels of bonus points and spending thresholds.
Example offers
Some example offers cardholders have reported include:
- 4,000 bonus miles after spending $3,000 or 8,000 bonus miles after spending $6,000 (1.3X extra rewards)
- 5,000 bonus miles after spending $4,000 or 10,000 bonus miles after spending $8,000 (1.25X extra rewards)
- 4,000 bonus miles after spending $4,000 or 4,000 bonus miles plus 450 PQPs after spending 8,000 (1X extra rewards)
- 8,000 bonus miles after spending $12,000 or 15,000 bonus miles after spending $21,000 (~0.7X extra rewards)
Some of these offers are certainly better than others. Previous versions of these promotions offered up to 3X rewards, whereas this round offers only up to 1.3X, with some less than 1X. However, that's still bonus miles earned on your purchases if you reach the spending threshold.
We can presume these targeted offers are based on spending habits, but some of the rewards still aren't worth it.

Key Terms
- Register for your offer by July 31, 2026.
- Reach the spending threshold with their United card spending between May 1 and August 31, 2026.
- Earn the bonus miles stipulated in your custom offer.
- Rewards will post to your account within 6-8 weeks of reaching the spending target.
- Members can earn bonus miles only once they reach one of the two spending thresholds for each offer. Spending more beyond the second threshold during the promotional period will not earn additional bonus miles.

Our Take
Select United cardholders can register for the Summer of You promotion to earn bonus miles once they reach a minimum spending threshold. From the offers we know of, cardholders can earn up to 1.3X rewards, on top of regular rewards earned with the United card.
If you are a United cardholder, it's worth checking your eligibility for this promotion if you can meet the spending requirement between May 1 and August 31.
And if you don't have a United card yet, you probably won't be able to take advantage of this spending bonus. But you can score much higher bonuses by opening a new card, thanks to ongoing welcome offers.
