There's more that you can do with IHG One Rewards points than simply redeeming them for hotel and resort stays. Now, courtesy of IHG's evolving partnership with Major League Soccer (MLS), you can redeem points for ticket packages and exclusive experiences.
Here's what you need to know about redeeming IHG points for a trip to the pitch.
Redeem IHG One Rewards Points for Exclusive MLS Experiences
Soccer fanatics have two options for redeeming a boatload of IHG points for MLS experiences. Through February 29, 2024, you can purchase a package outright for 70,000 points or bid for an even more unique package starting at 100,000 points.
Undoubtedly, that's a lot of points. But what do you get with a purchase or by winning a bid? Here's a comparison of the two options.

Purchase a package for 70,000 points
There are currently two package options for outright purchase on IHG's auction website — the venue for purchasing and bidding on MLS experiences. Both cost 70,000 IHG One Rewards points.
- Toronto FC at New York City FC
- Four (4) tickets to the match on March 16, 2024.
- $100 MLS Store eGift card.
- CF Montreal at D.C United FC
- Four (4) tickets to the match on March 30, 2024.
- $100 MLS Store eGift card.
Unfortunately, those are all the details you get before dropping 70,000 IHG points to purchase a package. Until your tickets arrive, you won't know where you're sitting in either stadium.
Plus, these two options don't present a high-value use of your points. On average, AwardWallet users redeem IHG One Rewards points for 0.68¢ apiece. That math makes the 70,000-point package worth about $475. However, the cent-per-point you'll get on this redemption all comes down to the sticker price of the seats.
As a reference point, tickets to either match start around $30. Four tickets plus a $100 gift card amounts to less than $475, so hopefully, IHG will throw buyers a bone and offer premium seats to justify the cost.
There's no language in the terms that states either offer is “subject to availability.” But if you're considering making a purchase, it's best to do so quickly just to be safe.

Bid on a package starting at 100,000 points
If you've got a much larger stash of IHG points, you can bid on three premium MLS experiences, starting at 100,000 points. These packages are worth a minimum of $680, given what AwardWallet users typically redeem IHG One Rewards points for. We'll let you judge whether the inclusions justify the cost.
- Orlando City SC at Atlanta United
- Four (4) tickets to the match on March 17, 2024.
- Sit in the AMG Lounge.
- All-inclusive food and beverage.
- Opportunity to practice a penalty kick on-field for four (4).
- Nashville SC at Los Angeles FC
- Four (4) tickets to the match on March 23, 2024.
- Sit in the North End Terrace.
- Complimentary food and beverage.
- Pre-match sideline access for four (4).
- Columbus Crew at Charlotte FC
- Four (4) tickets to the match on March 23, 2024.
- Sit in a “premium” section.
- Pre-match sideline access for four (4).
To bid on these offers, you'll need to visit IHG's auction website and log in. Bidding ends on February 29, 2024, but it will be extended as long as there are active bids.
Final Thoughts
Depending on how big of a Major League Soccer fan you are, these MLS experiences might be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and well worth the number of IHG One Rewards points it costs to unlock one.
The current offers will close on February 29, 2024, so if you're going to take advantage of them, ensure you get a bid in or make your purchase before the deadline.
