The big news of the week is that Hyatt's partnership with Mr & Mrs Smith officially launched. While it's easy to get excited by the shiny new object, one of the easy-to-miss details with the integration is that Hyatt opted to price award nights at Mr & Mrs Smith properties outside its standard award charts. In other words, when you try to book, you'll see a “starting at” price, and the number of points required will ratchet higher when the cash rate gets more expensive.

Before you empty your World of Hyatt account on a stay at an eye-catching property (of which there are many), now is as good a time as any to revisit what your Hyatt points are worth to ensure you get fair value from your hard-earned rewards.

What Are World of Hyatt Points Worth Toward Mr & Mrs Smith Bookings?

The entire Mr & Mrs Smith portfolio contains nearly 2,300 properties, which is a big number. 700 properties were made available through World of Hyatt with the partnership's initial launch, with many now accepting reservations made with cash or Hyatt points.

Originally, Hyatt wouldn't clarify which pricing mechanism Mr & Mrs Smith properties would follow. Would it be dynamic? Fixed-value rewards like Accor Live Limitless uses? Or something else? The answer turned out to be dynamic, so we started to crunch the numbers once properties went online.

After throwing 10 darts at the map, we've crunched numbers to showcase what your World of Hyatt points are generally worth towards Mr & Mrs Smith bookings. The results for non-discounted rates are tabulated below:

The biggest takeaway is that you'll get various values from your Hyatt points on Mr & Mrs Smith stays. In the brief selection of properties, that could mean as little as 1.13¢ or as much as 2.92¢ per point. That's a big gap.

The second biggest takeaway is that the average of these redemptions is 1.42¢ per Hyatt point, and 80% of the properties fell below that. One high-value redemption is drastically affecting the average. In recent redemptions, AwardWallet users have extracted 2.19¢ apiece from their Hyatt points, which makes that 1.42¢ per point number look even worse — before considering that most properties were offering even less value for your redemptions.

That's not to say you shouldn't redeem World of Hyatt points at Mr & Mrs Smith properties. But at the very least, you'll want to pay close attention to what your points are worth on these stays.

How To Book Mr & Mrs Smith Stays Through Hyatt

Mr & Mrs Smith properties are showing on Hyatt's website, and you can book a stay at one of the participating locations like you would reserve a night at any of Hyatt's hotels and resorts. Hyatt even lets you filter out non-Mr & Mrs Smith properties.

Given a few quirks with the rollout, one of the best ways to find a participating Mr & Mrs Smith property is to open Hyatt's map view and filter by brand. You can access the Smith-specific map here.

After making a selection, proceed through the booking process like normal. It's that simple.

But again, it's worth checking what your Hyatt points are worth toward your property of choice. For instance, a two-night stay at the Kahani Paradise in Karnataka, India, would command 98,500 Hyatt points—worth nearly $2,160 based on what AwardWallet users typically redeem Hyatt points for.

Alternatively, paying for the same Green Suite with cash carries an all-in, non-discounted cost of ~$1,274.56. In other words, this specific redemption only offers 1.29¢ per point.

Some properties, like the Kahani Paradise, offer discounts for Mr & Mrs Smith members. Saving 20% on the cash cost might be more appetizing than redeeming a boatload of Hyatt points for less than 2.19¢ apiece.

Final Thoughts

You can now redeem World of Hyatt points at several hundred Mr & Mrs Smith properties. While we always appreciate a new way to redeem points — especially Hyatt points — you'll want to check the math before burning thousands on a Mr & Mrs Smith stay. Some properties offer more value for your points than others, all thanks to Hyatt's dynamic award pricing of its new partner's portfolio.
